Description
Cain and Luke, commissioned bySketched with pencils and colored in Photoshop. This is the first piece I've done with my new Cintiq! Finally bit the bullet and got me the LCD/tablet as it allows for more natural digital painting work. Wacom's new 12WX is far, far lighter than their previous versions (4 lbs!) and doesn't warm up quite so much. It's fun to use and while it took some getting used to, the learning curve isn't as steep as learning to use a tablet. Mostly, it took some playing around with the settings to get the right "feel" before I felt comfortable with the device. Looking forward to doing future pieces with it
Kudos to for the free brushes. Helped give some additional texture to this piece.

Beautiful work with the scenery and characters. I've never heard of that Cintiq o3o I really like the more painted effect it gave ^^ It makes me want one now D8 *needs a new tablet either way* I really cant stop staring at it. o3o the eye truely moves around the page!

The painted effect is not the Cintiq's doing, it just makes it easier for me to accomplish it. I wouldn't advise anyone to go out and dump money on the item unless they were doing a LOT of hardcore graphics work (it's not magic, it doesn't make artwork instantly better), I'd recommend a typical Wacom tablet (or Bamboo, they're new more casual option) for those wanting to mimic working in real media on the computer.

Photoshop isn't the best for real-media mimicry, really. You've got to tease the brush settings quite a bit to get the feel and look you want, and it still tends to be too smooth. Painter is a kinder program for that type of work. I've heard good things about GIMP too (and that one's free).

Yeah, it's pretty hard to even get close to that effect with Photoshop, unfortunately. I've been wanting Painter, but it's hard to get >.< GIMP is pretty nice from what I used to use on it. The only problem is that I have a separate cpu *an Apple at that* and it's very hard to download anything on there from the internet source I have on this one *a Windows*. <8D

Yeah I just got a buttload of new pic messages. Apparently it wasn't just my account suffering from delays.
New Cintiq is half the price and a fifth the weight of the old one, but with a smaller screen. A lot slimmer too. It'll probably be Wacom's standard for future Cintiqs, I wouldn't be surprised if they released larger options later. If only they could integrate the chunky video monitor box it needs to attach to now.

I was lucky I was able to get one, and then only because it's a needed item for both business and my major (animation). If you can't justify the cost, it's probably not worth it. But the price of LCD screens is dropping, so perhaps one day the cintiq or its progeny will cost almost the same as a normal tablet. Until then, ouch

I personally think the price of loads of stuff is dropping. Got to love the economics these days..(sarcasm) But I dont think a cintiq will drop in price that quick that it would soon be worth as much as a normal tablet. I think we're talking about a progress in years here...(I THINK XD)
But it would be rediclious if the price of a cintiq would be the same as a normal tablet (Which has a lack of options if you compare it with a Cintiq).. It would be silly

Haha yeah I was thinking about buying one, but there are so many things to save up for. And so many things that are needed to get paid even though you want to save for something, that it's almost impossible to safe up money for something like that

If I hadn't of stumbled across your front page, I wouldn't have noticed you uploaded this; for some reason, I never got the notice in my inbox!
I don't even know how to describe this at the moment. Just, wow. The pencil lineart was great, but this has reached beyond my expectations. I'm not sure what I was imagining that my commission would look like, but this is easily better. I'm amazed at how well this fits the purpose I wanted it for: to hang up in my room. I love the boarder- thank you for putting it in. Major thrill commissioning you, man. You definitely did these two justice.
I do have one more little request though. Could you sign it?
