Description Ruddy Turnstone in non-breeding plumage. These birds will snatch food right underneath a gull's nose or take some from a human, which is something you won't see from any of our other sandpipers.

Wow, a bird more daring than a gull? I thought the seagulls were the most brazen of all (even though I do love them too...) One time a gull stole one of my daughters toys right off our beach blanket. We ran after him for such a long way before he finally dropped the toy in the water. LOL

Yep, we have a few bird types which trump gulls here, at least if they act in groups. Grackle flocks will pick on or bully single gulls and these guys will at least steal food from them (being ridiculously fast in the air helps, I guess.) I've had trouble with gulls stealing food too though! sometimes if I go to feed other birds, what do I find but gulls swooping in and ruining the picture the ultimate photobombers I guess.
