Description

This is the more serious and developed production for the center-most slice of this overland map:

In Tangled Threads, Parts Two and Three, we see Callista bearing the unconscious Avora on that trip from Mitesceru Manor ("Martilis Estate" in the revision) to Dernhem, and so it seemed like it was time to put what I had in mind down on paper and give it a little more attention than the simple line drawing above. This new map is actually a cropped version of a larger one that shows a bit further south (just pass the Villios Estate) and north (not quite to Eiger Village), with a number of the names and locations removed (like Callista's Safe Haven and Annalae's Stalker Shrine). Many of the rivers and valleys have names on the master file as well, but looking at them all at once can be a bit chaotic, so I'll slowly reveal and modify this as we go.

This map is included in the Tangled Threads, Part Two publication detailed here:

New Publication - Digital Version, Too!
Tangled Threads, Part Two can be purchased here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1081919175
It seems that the international versions of Amazon will make it available in another 1-4 weeks (please correct me if I'm wrong here).
The digital version is available here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WH9WS45
The book is 170 pages long. It has 76 illustrations and two maps in it, plus six feature illustrations for the main contributors this time around.
Tangled Threads, Part Three is almost done as well--15 more images to complete digitally and the narrative draft needs about the same. Assuming things go as usual, we should be ordering a proof of TT3 in another 5-6 weeks, and from that point, it's another 2-3 weeks for publication and availability.
Also, I'm now working on Fair Harvest, Part 1 (a loose publishing goal of December, 2019 to January, 2020), and a bunch of final

Another section of the overland map is posted to accompany the images/story from the Chain of Events chapter. It is here:

Enjoy!

Note: Tangled Threads and Demon's Due are a work of fantasy and fiction. The artist/creator in no way condones this kind of treatment toward any woman or man, by living person, gremlin, plant, assassin, ratman, viscous fluid, programmed device, animated home furnishings, or otherworldly spiritual beings. Furthermore, the artist opposes the marginalizing and restriction of women in general by any institution, political and/or religious, including those which have individual women amongst their membership touting/promoting their own happiness within that institution as evidence that ALL women should feel the same way. This includes the religion I was raised in and which I have utterly discarded from my life over this and other issues.

I always like a good map.

The pilgrims after whom the Pilgrims Road was presumably named seem to have taken a rather round-about route. I'm guessing that taking a shortcut via the Belfry Rock Road would have been more hazardous or more difficult for some reason. Or perhaps the Belfry Rock Road didn't yet exist when the earliest travellers were making their pilgrimage.

That raises the question of just what pilgrimage were they making? And was Dernhem their starting point or their destination?

Pilgrimages were made to Mitesceru Manor/Martilis Estate, the Harbinger's place of advent 200 years ago and site of the honorary gardens and statuary. I'm envisioning the Belfry Rock Road is older and services the local communities and farmhouses, so it has more twists and turns in it and is choked with local traffic. Also, Belfry Rock itself has an aura about it that seems to discourage the happy traveler and welcome those weighed down with despair and memory. The Pilgrim Road was built up specifically to service pilgrims, with magical markers placed to protect and guide traffic to and from the estate. And your guess about the reason why is pretty much on target. I honestly patterned it after experiences driving across southern Wyoming to Denver, Colorado--one may be tempted to leave eastbound Interstate 80 at Laramie and take State Highway 287 that cuts the corner to Fort Collins, but that last stretch to Cheyenne is a nice, scenic drive with good speed that gets you right on the straight shot down Interstate 25 to Denver, whereas 287 can be treacherous and has a notorious speed trap that'll get you a nice speeding ticket.

Thanks!

I'm no hydrologist, but that entire region looks like it would be really difficult to get flood insurance.
Might be a good place for duck farming.

Yes, you're probably right. And after the events of Twisted Plot, Part 1, fire insurance is getting more costly as well. Thankfully, auto insurance is still pretty low...
