A Gift to since he was one of the Kiwis I can find on deviantart since we're were not many New Zealanders I could find on this site :sad:
And also to Bill of the RES (Railway Enthusiasts Society which I'm a member of this group in Auckland) since its his favorite locomotives from his time.

Another NZ locomotive this time a WAB a tank version of the Ab class with a big watermark over the driving wheels and had a very good pulling power at low speed and an excellent acceleration.

Design to haul the suburban service around the Auckland and Wellington section of New Zealand over 30 were built and due to their high traction effort they were used on the heavily graded section of both islands between Dunedin and Oamaru in the South Island and Taihape and Taumarunui in the North Island.

When the electriciantion began in the Wellington section in the 1950s, many of these WAB were sent to the workshop to be rebuilt into the Ab class to join with their AB counterparts. The remaining WAB were kept in service right up to 1967 and 1971 on the last days of Steam in NZ.

Only two WAB were persevered and one was rebuilt into an AB:
WAB 794 was persevered at the Feilding and District SteM Rail Society in Feilding

WAB 800 is persevered at the Glenbrook Vintage Railway in Auckland.

And Ab 794 (formly a WAB) is persevered at the Kingston Flyer.
