During the golden age of Cybertron, he was once a racer. Barricade was the team leader of a racing team called the Race Track Patrol." Along with the the other racers Roller Force, Groundhog, and Motorhead. However, Barricade and his team didn't always play the rules. Any time things didn't go their way, they would cheat to ensure they won. One of their races led to them being disqualified from future events. Barricade's team was disbanded, and Barricade's racing career was ruined. Barricade later enrolled in the Iacon Police Academy, and he graduated top of his glass. He also became Prowl's partner. However, like before, Barricade breaks the rules using excessive force Police brutality, you name it, Barricade has done it. leading to him being suspended multiple times, he was never fired because Prowl always stood up for him. But Barricade eventually was fired when Bumblebee ratted him out for accepting bribes from criminals such as Swindle, Dark Wing, and Lockdown. When the war began, Megatron recruited Barricade for tipping him off about an Autobot surprise attack. Barricade had earned Megatrons respect and later became one of the highest ranking lieutenants. Barricade even led an attack on an Autobot Police Armory for weapons where he killed Chief Stockade and fought against his old friend Prowl. He also led another attack on an Autobot outpost where he encountered Bumblebee. As payback for ratting him out, Barricade ripped out Bumblebee's vice box. Barricade has earned his favor with Megatron many times. However, his loyalty often has him bud heads with Starscream.
