Eating quality: Average. Usually cooked as claypot or steamed dishes. Enjoyed in Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia, despite their bad reputation
Threats: Overfishing, damming and pollution
How do you save them: Do not throw any kind of waste into the rivers, which are the home of the Tapah catfish

I've recently saw one in Thailand after those years at an aquarium store. The owner drops a small frog into its tank and this 10 inch Wallago swallow the whole frog and the gulping sounds like a clap in the water. ( We call it ปลาเค้า)

Wallagos are known for their brutal apppetite though. I just went to SeaWorld Ancol again few weeks ago and the Wallago is still in good shape, although only one remaining. There's a plenty of big Wallagos in Jakarta Aquarium, and I almost got bitten lmao

Supposedly, they can get to a size to attack cattle and even larger monitor lizards as well as full grown adult humans who go swimming.

Tapah supposedly have a reputation of being aggressive, but I'm not sure they deserve the reputation.
