What a very interesting idea. I like how childlike it is. It feels kind of like re-watching "Neverending Story", "Babes in Toyland", "Labyrinth", or one of those other "Child enters magical world" types of stories. I remember seeing one many years ago, which took place in a world where everything was resolved by hugging. I can't remember the name of it, but the tree tickling scene reminded me of it.Β
I also love how it covers the two sides of tickling, fun vs torture. While there do exist other sides to it as well, you'd probably end up breaking the child-friendly theme if you went there.
Besides, simplicity is all part of the charm of stories like these. As other writers have said, fiction can be truer than truth in the way it uses stories of concrete good vs evil to convey complex, abstract inner struggles, or struggles between individuals, much like a ler and a lee struggling to find that happy balance between boredom and overwhelming hysteria.Β
There were a few issues I noticed like an abundance of unneeded adverbs at points, but from looking at the size of your gallery, I get the impression that this story was written long ago, so I'll just continue along from here.Β
Overall, wonderful idea, and great job conveying a somewhat mature theme in the style of a children's movie. I look forward to seeing where this goes as I read on.Β
