'Dear Diary,

Today was a great day! So great that I decided to finally write in you about it. This is the first time I am writing in you, Diary, so you better be happy about it. When mom and dad gave you to me for my birthday, I was really bummed that I didn't get the playhouse set that I wanted and thought that writing in you would be boring and stupid. But today was so good that I want to write about it so that I never forget what happened.

I woke up this morning and got ready for school. I had a bowl of cereal and a banana. My mom packed my lunch which was a peanut better and jelly sandwich with a cookie and raisins, my favorite! My sister, Lilly, walked me to the bus stop and waited for my bus with me. I love my sister. She's 15 years old! When I wait at the bus stop all by myself, sometimes the other girls who wait their pick on me about my pigtails or my backpack or my size and I hate it! When Lilly is there, she protects me from those other girls. We play games while we wait. She'll help me study for tests by quizzing me. She'll even give me some of her lunch if I don't have enough. I think it's so cool that, even though she's so grown up and I'm just 11, she still takes care of me and stays my friend,

I hardly ever get to see my sister at school. I mainly hang out with my other friends during recess and lunch. There's Mandy, Allison, and Felicia who I see during math and history. The high school where my sister goes and the middle school where I go are actually connected, so I do get to see my sister sometimes when we take class trips over to the high school. She's the coolest!

Today, I got all 'A's on my report card and was brought up to a ninth grade reading level! No one seemed to pick on me as much today and I even made a new friend. Her name is Grace and she really likes cats. She has three at her house, I think. We're going to hang out or maybe have a sleep over one of these days. I'm so excited!

When I got home, I told my sister all about my super cool day and she gave me a big hug. She then started tickling me like she always did when she got too happy. She tickled my sides and under my arms and even my belly! I'm super ticklish everywhere. No one knows except my sister and now you, diary. She keeps my secret safe as long as I keep hers safe too. I'll tell you, diary, because I know you wont tell anyone else. My sister Lilly is also really REALLY ticklish! She's really ticklish everywhere, but her worst spot is her feet. It's so funny when I catch her laying on the bed or on the couch and jump up onto her legs and tickle her bare feet. She squirms and kicks and laughs real loud! It's so funny! I did today. After she tickled me in my room, I tackled her to the ground and wrapped myself around her ankles. I got one shoe off and started tickling her foot with the sock on. She was already kicking and screaming but I held on tight. I got the other shoe off and started tickling the other foot. Boy, her feet stink! From all the years of her tickling me, she taught me all the tricks I know how to tickle her just right. I got off one sock and started tickling her bare foot. Oh wow, did she laugh! I wanted to let her up, but I still had one more foot to go. I got off the other sock and started tickling the other foot. We were both laughing like crazy, but I let her up shortly after. I didn't want to be mean to her. We got up still laughing and hugged it out.

Later that night we had dinner. We had fried chicken and green bean casserole, my favorite dinner! After dinner, I brushed my teeth, got in my PJs, and pulled you out to write in you. Now, I'm going to sleep. I'm going to wait for my sister to come tuck me in though. She usually does and checks under my bed for the monsters, because when no one checks, monsters from under my bed will come out at night and try to get me. Some of them are okay. We have usually have good fun, but they keep me awake and I don't like that. Still, there are some monsters that have been by a lot more recently that try to get me. That's why I have my sister check. I don't know if I'll write in you again, diary. Maybe if I have another day better than this one, but I doubt it. Anyway, goodnight!

Silvia Dawson'

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bright red neon numbers greeted Lillian Dawson as she found herself waking up in a groggy stupor. The teenage girl yawned and rubbed her eyes, trying to regain focus of her vision. The red light of the digital alarm clock swirled in front of her face in a blurred kaleidoscope of hieroglyphics. Lilly squinted her eyes, still in a mild disbelief that she was even awake, until the neon numbers before her registered in her mind as 2:04am. The teenage girl threw he head back down on her pillow and sighed, dreading the time it would take to get back to sleep before she would have to get up for school. She took one last look into the open hallway past her cracked door, toward her sister's room. High school life had quickly become much more difficult for the girl as if over night. She thought back to when she was Silvia's age, when the hardest part of school was the order of operations in pre-algebra and the most difficult part of life was her bodily changes. She envied her sister's youth, even if it was jut a few years before her own. Lilly learned much in that time and was excited for Silvia to embrace such an amazing time of her own life. Lilly had always been around to protect her sister from the harshness of school life and planned on being there for her with every continuous step. Lilly was proud of the girl that her sister was becoming, one that prioritized intelligence, morality, and personal relationships above the more superficial properties of teenage life. Lilly would see all the time bitter relationships between family members, mainly siblings, and she was so thankful that her and her sister got along as well as they did. Lilly loved her sister more than anything and only ever wanted the best for her.
Lilly was about to close her eyes and resume her night of rest before she heard a loud crash coming from her sister's room. She couldn't have imagined that it would have been loud enough to wake up her parents in the next room, so Lilly immediately threw the bed comforter off of her and walked down the hall to investigate the noise. A cool breeze of air conditioning ran across her bare foot and sent a slight chill up her spine. Her light purple pajama pants and matching night shirt were a Christmas gift from her aunt and uncle. Lilly wore the combo all the time to bed because of how soft and warm the fabric felt against her skin. The floor creaked under each step of her tiny, bare feet as she came closer to her sister's bedroom door. The door wasn't shut all the way, typically how Lilly preferred having her own door at night. Inside the open crack, she could only see darkness. Lilly knew that Silvia had a Hello Kitty nightlight that she had been trying to ween herself out of using, but ever since Silvia got into a 'monster' phase, as her mom and dad liked to put it, it was usually on at night, but not on this night.
Several months ago, Silvia started claiming that there were monsters living underneath her bed. Her mother and father didn't think anything of the accusations and brushed it off as just a flicker of wild imagination, but Lillian took a much more careful concern. Not that she believed that monsters really existed or that lived underneath her sister's bed, but Lilly found it quite odd that her sister of ten years old at the time would be so convinced of monsters underneath her bed. It was such a childish claim to make and not one that she ever felt her sister would stoop to making. On several occasions, Silvia had Lilly check under her bed before going to sleep. Lilly obliged, though she knew how ridiculous it was to be checking for monsters, because she knew her parents would just tell Silvia to grow up and go to sleep. Lilly wanted Silvia to feel safe in her own bed, even from non existent creatures. As the phase continued, Silvia would talk to Lilly about the monsters, knowing well enough that her sister would be the only one to listen. She would say that the monsters were 'clever little things' that would scurry around the room at night. They weren't even scary, but Silvia didn't like them all the same. She would make claims of them being all different shapes and sizes, never once aiming to harm her or anyone else. Silvia would describe them as friendly things who laughed a lot, nothing at all like the kind of monsters under the bed that Lilly would imagine a child would be scared of.
Lilly remembered that Silvia stated that, every so often, she could feel them tickle her in her sleep. Small hands with long fingers would occasionally come up from underneath the bed and tickle her all over her body. She said that she didn't mind it; it always made her laugh and felt nice to her. Lilly thought it very strange that Silvia would insist that this phenomenon, whatever it may truly be, was a consistent occurrence. Every so often, she could hear her sister giggling from her bedroom at night and never seemed to think anything of it. Lilly thought to all the times that her and her sister would get into little tickle fights and imagined that that was what she was actually dreaming about, but to her sister's testimony, it was always monsters. It was such a weird thing to not only make up, but insist was the truth time after time again. Silvia would go into finer and more excited details about them tickling her. Some of the monsters would have many long arms and scribbling fingers inside her arm pits. Others would be smaller and more fuzzy, rolling around and giggling against her belly. Sometimes she would even talk about who she referred to as 'the twins', two monsters with long, rough tongues that would lick her bare soles and nibble on her tiny toes, tickling her into a frenzy sometimes all night long. She said she didn't mind it, but Lilly still found it odd that a girl as smart and mature as she was would stick with such wild stories.
Lilly creaked her sister's door all the way open, greeting the darkness within. She poked her head through the door frame and addressed her sister.
"Sil?" whispered Lilly. "I heard a crash. Are you okay?" Silvia did not answer. Lilly yielded all of her hearing to the contents of the room, listening for any small voice that may answer from within. "Sil?" Not buying that her sister could sleep through such a loud noise, Lilly became much more concerned. She inched closer in the direction of where Silvia bed was, navigating the darkness by memory and whispering her sister's name louder and louder the close she came. "Hey, sis, are you okay?" Lilly caught a glimpse of movement dart in and out of her already diminutive field of vision. She quickly turned her head toward the closet door, which stood partially ajar. Lilly approached her sisters bed. "Sil, wake up." Lilly put her hands on the bed, feeling for the lumps under the sheets, only to find a completely flattened out bed. Lilly's heart began to race. "Silvia?!" Her voice was no longer in a whisper, but a near panicked yell. Her hands raced all over the bed, feeling the sheets for any sign of the girl. Lilly scrambled all over the bed, no wanting to race the reality that her sister was not there. Just as she was about to turn around and run out yelling to her parents of her sister's disappearance, the door to Silvia's room slammed shut. Lilly jumped and spun around. "Silvia?"
From beneath her, sliding out from under the bed, a long, slimy appendage coils around her ankle and starts pulling. Lilly shrieks and looks down, unable to see the wet thing in the darkness before it pulled on her ankle so hard that she fell to the ground. Lilly panicked, her heart pounded in her chest as she screamed for help. The slimy device continued to pull Lilly under the bed. She tried to fight against it, but whatever it was that had her was far too strong for her to escape from. Lilly was quickly being pulled completely underneath the bed by some creature she couldn't see. The girl looked around for anything she may be able to grab onto. As she had become completely submerged under the bed, the teenage girl reached for one of the bed legs. She wrapped her arms tightly around it, hoping to just hold on until her cries are heard and she could escape. Lilly continued to call out and scream, but neither her mother or her father came bursting through the door like she imagined they would. Lilly knew that it was all up to her to get herself out of this mess. She didn't know what it was that had her, but she did know that whatever it was, she was strong enough to escape from it. Lilly pulled against the bed leg with all of her strength. She could feel her body inching ever so further away from where the creature was taking her as well as feel her ankle start slipping out of its grasp. Just as Lilly thought that she may slip out completely and be able to run out of the room, the appendage coiled more around her ankle, tightening its grip. Lilly was still pulling herself out from underneath the bed, but escape from the creature was looking less and less likely to the girl.
Just as Lilly managed to get her whole upper body out from under the bed, she felt something strange. Lilly jumped and shrieked again, this time in a different tone, when she felt a single, light, slimy flicker against the bottom of her trapped foot. A distinct shiver ran down the girl's spine. A new force within her tried to jerk her foot away, but it was sternly held in place. Lilly found her grip loosening and strength fading as the single strange force flickered across her sole quicker and quicker. As fearful as she was for the life of her sister, as well as her own, it was not long before her mouth began to part in a smile and giggles pushed forcefully out of her mouth. Faster and faster the creature tickled her until she felt more of the same slithery devices begin to slide gently across her ticklish, pink sole.
"Hahahahahah!!! Nnnahahahahahahoooo!!!! Stttaaahhhahahahahahahapppp iiittthahahahahah!!!" Lilly laughed as she continued to hang onto the bed leg. Her grip ot weaker and weaker the longer the creature tickled her pretty foot. More and more of the same wet objects joined in to torment the trapped foot. Soon her entire foot was being explored by them. One traced circles around her heel while several gently slid up and down her milky white arch. More drew figure eights around the ball of her foot, but the most of them danced around her toes, slipping in and out in between them, teasing the stems, scratching away at the soft pads of her toes and even getting right underneath, where the pads met the stems. It wasn't long before Lilly was in fully hysteria. "HAHAHAHSSSTTAAPAPPPHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!NHAHAHAHAHAHAHNNNAAAAHHTTHAHAHAHAHAHMYYTOOEEESSSHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!" Lilly hoped to hold on just long enough for her parents to come find her and rescue her. She was fully convinced that the volume of her laughter at this point far surpassed that of the screaming she had been doing not minutes before. Her parents slept right down the hall; it made no sense to the teenager that they shouldn't have come busting through the door within seconds. The creature, whatever it was, continued to tickle the poor girl's trapped foot, making no effort to give up. Lilly was still fighting against her own body's ticklish weakness to hold on. Her fingers, no longer connected with each other, now strained to grasp against the wooden leg of the bed. The tickling was much too thorough for her to be able to stand; not a single nerve of her foot had been left unexploited. No matter how much she struggled or scrunched her toes made a difference in the torment it received. Tears started to run down the girl's reddened cheeks. Her mouth hung open in a plastered smile of forced laughter. Lilly had always sort of liked being tickled by her family and friends, but up to certain extents which had been far exceeded by the creature still trying to drag her under the bed. Lilly feared that if she let go, the beast would surly devour her, fearing the most that this is what happened to her sister. Lilly knew her sister well and if the monster tried the same tickle tactics on Silvia that it was using on Lilly, she would have let go on the first touch. Lilly, however, was still just barely holding onto the savior that was the bed post. The creature poked, prodded, and extensively slid its many flicking appendages up, down, and around the poor girl's bare foot. Lilly knew that holding on was proving futile; no one was answering her cries for help or even curious as to her raging fits of laughter. The hope was slipping from her heart as her sweaty fingers were slipping from around the wooden leg. Lilly was thinking of facing the monster head on, giving it what it clearly wants, and hoping that she would still be in a good position to fight back. Lilly's fingers slipped all the way off the bed leg as the creature drug the screaming girl all the way under the bed.
Lilly found herself being pulled into a large hole under the bed. The creature still had a hold of her ankle, but was no longer subjecting her foot to the tickle torment. Lilly fell further and further down the hole. Her screams for help echoed all the way both up where her sister's bedroom became further and further away and down where the unknown creature pulled her toward. The decent began to feel more and more like a free fall, making the monster's slimy grip of her ankle excessively redundant. Lilly slid on her back like a slide at the park made of dirt and weeds down toward a small source of light. It was ludicrous that such a tunnel should exist below her sister's second floor bedroom, but Lilly was prepared to set aside inquiries of logic for what she knew exact was going on. She felt the dirt scrape against her arms and legs as her decent became faster. Lilly screamed all the way down, trying for force her hands against the sides of the tunnel to slow herself, but the appendage still wrapped around her ankle pulled the girl down stronger than she could stop it. The light at the end of the tunnel grew larger and brighter until Lilly was forced to shield her eyes. Though she couldn't see anything beyond the light below her, she knew that she was about to become submersed in whatever it contained, and braced herself for the unknown.
Lilly's side down the tunnel came to a sudden, if surprisingly comfortable conclusion, as she landed firmly on a giant bed of white goose feathers. She lowered her arm from her eyes and squinted to adjust to the dramatic change in overall brightness from the darkness of her sister's room and the mysterious tunnel. Wherever she was, it appeared to be daytime. As her eyes adjusted and her complete vision returned, Lilly looked around, mouth agape at the world she found herself in.
"Wh-where am I?" Lilly asked aloud. As she laid in the inconspicuous pile of feathers, Lilly scanned the immediate area. All around her were tall trees, whimsically twisted and intertwined, colored bizarre palettes of bright oranges, yellows, reds, and blues. The grass was a lively lavender color and waved on their own as if being blow by a gentle breeze. Strange, multicolored animals frolicked freely betwixt the trees; animals that Lilly had never seen or heard of before like wild lime green horses with massive wings on their backs, large, white cat like animals with long tongues to retrieve bugs and smaller creatures out of trees, and small animals resembling pigs with short, bristle like hairs all over their bodies. Lilly felt as if she had slipped into the imagination of a child or a Dr. Seuss book. Lilly wanted nothing more than to just wake up from this crazy dream she was having, but it all still seemed as real as if she was awake. The feathers beneath her felt as real as the pleasant scent of the new world she found herself in. Lilly knew well what dreams felt like, even the most wild and convincing of which, and she knew right away that this wasn't a dream, even if she couldn't accept it. Lilly reached down to her ankle to find that the slimy arm wrapped around her was gone. The feathers underneath her tickled slightly every inch of her bare skin. Lilly squirmed and giggled softly as she tried to stand and navigate her way off of the pile of feathers. She looked above her, positive to still find the tunnel which led her to this world right above her, only to find that there was nothing there, only a pink and blue swirl of a sky staring back down at her. The clouds seemed extra puffy than they were in her own world. Lilly stepped down off of the pile of feathers onto the waving purple grass beneath her. The grass, as if with a mind of its own, wiggled softly against her bare soles, causing Lilly to shriek and retract her foot quickly, as if dipping her toe into a pool of cold water. She eyed a small, dirt path about several yards away and figured that it would be the safest place to stop and access the situation. Lilly took a deep breath and jumped off of the bed of feathers and onto the grass. Lilly ran across the grass toward the path, however the grass still behaved similarly to how it did before. The blades wiggled against her soles and slipped in between her toes, even in the small amount of time her feet touched the ground. Lilly giggled all the way to the path, trying to run as fast as possible so as to not spend too much time with her bare feet on the mysterious grass. Lilly wasn't about to spend time questioning the reality of the situation until she knew for sure where she was and how she could get back home. Lilly didn't know exactly how the grass could be so tickly against her feet, but just from her brief overlook of the world around her, there would be much that she wasn't prepared for. Lilly laughed as she ran, tiring herself out quicker and slowly her stride. The initial distance seemed to be much closer to her when she started, but further she ran, the more difficult it became for her to continue.
"Heeheeheeeccchreeheeheeeheheheheehee!" Lilly giggled. The feather light grass reacted quickly to her steps. The weight of her body coming down with each step didn't seem to stop the grass from wiggling against her sensitive soles. With each step she took, the blades of grass squirming and feathering their way across her soles and in between her toes kept breaking the girl down in fits of laughter. Lilly delicately bounded her way across the grass like a playful deer, trying to cover further ground with each leap. She felt it weird that, with having lost her sister and being lost in a strange new world, she was laughing as much as she was. The reaction she had to situation she found herself in, as difficult as it was to suddenly have to cope with, was not one she would have ever imagined herself laughing so much with. Lilly's ticklishness severely outweighed the dread she was feeling inside.
By the time she made it to the dirt path, Lilly was well out of breath, as if she had just sprinted from the bus stop to her house. The teenage girl wiped a layer of building sweat from her forehead and collected herself. Finding herself in a strange new land, especially after having been excessively tickled as she was, was just about too much for her to believe.
"Hello!" Lilly shouted, hoping for a sign of where she might go from there. The girl looked in all directions, finding no sign of civilization or people to ask directions from. The animals that Lilly saw before all looked her way and began advancing carefully. She saw no danger in the flamboyantly colored creatures and paid them no attention. Lilly had always found comfort in animals, never once becoming afraid at the prospect of petting new and exotic animals. This, however, was not the time or place to make new animal friends. Lilly noticed that the path she was on trailed off in two directions. One led deeper into a forest of rainbow pattern trees while the other direction pointed over a small hill. "Anybody!" Lilly called out, still expecting some distant voice to answer and give her the directions back home she required. When no one did, Lilly sighed and figured she would just have to find a way back home by the seat of her own wit. Lilly started off down the path toward the hill.
"I wouldn't go down tha' way, nah ma'am," said a nearby voice. Lilly spun around, trying to find the source of the voice. Behind her stood a short bipedal rabbit with large eyes, tall ears, and comically sized buck teeth. He wore a pair of overalls, white gloves, and a wide brimmed straw hat. His voice and dialect reflected his dress and he closely resembled a 'Loony Toons' cartoon character. "Name's Tucker. Been hoppin' 'round these parts all m' life and I ain't never seen you 'round here." The rabbit hopped around Lilly, inspecting her body and face for familiarity in a comical fashion. Lilly found Tucker a funny, refreshing face to an otherwise dreary situation.
"Well, um, my name is Lilly and I, uh, don't know where I am or even why I'm here," said Lilly. "I was brought here by some... thing from my sister's bedroom. Maybe you can help me get back." Tucker looked back at Lilly with a wide eyed expression.
"Well, Miss, I don't know 'bout where it is you come from," said Tucker. "Welcome to th' Featherlands, m' dear. We'r' all 'bout havin' good times an' lots o' laughs."
"You do seem to be really nice," said Lilly. "You said this place is called the 'Featherlands'?"
"Yes'm," said Tucker. "Now, wha' brings a pretty youn' thin' like yerself down to these parts." Tucker reached out and gave Lilly's sides a couple squeezes teasingly. Lilly squirmed and giggled by his advance.
"Heeyyheheheheheheheh!" Lilly laughed. She puled away after a few moments.
"Aww, now don' be shy on gettin' tickled, ya hear?" said Tucker. "It's how us folk here say 'howdy'!" Tucker went back in to tickle the girl more, but Lilly backed away.
"Listen, I'm looking for a way back home," said Lilly. "I lost my sister, Silvia, and I don't know where to find her. Can you help me get back?" Tucker squinted at the girl, staring deep into her eyes.
"Well, I'll be darned," said Tucker slowly. "You do look jus' like her." Tucker squinted his over sized eyes, peering into Lilly's own.
"You-you mean my sister?" asked Lilly. "Do you know Silvia?" Tucker let out a holler of laughter.
"Know 'er?!" shouted Tucker. "Why she's th' queen of this here land!"
"The queen?" asked Lilly. Tucker was quick to continue.
"Yeah!" Tucker said. "Terrible, terrible thin' had happened though. Terrible, terrible thin'." Tucker turned away and started bouncing away. Lilly chased after him toward the trees.
"Wait, wait!" shouted Lilly. "What do you mean 'terrible thing'?" Tucker stopped, his ears drooped as he turned to face the girl.
"You don' know?" asked Tucker. "Why, poor girl got herself taken, taken to th' bad place."
"What 'bad place'?" asked Lilly. "Wh-what are you talking about? Where is my sister?"
"I'm afraid you won't get much out of ol' Tucker over there," said a voice behind Lilly. Lilly turned to see a long, green snake wrapped around a tree branch. Its head hug down at level with Lilly's as it spoke. Lilly shrieked and covered her mouth, backing up into Tucker. "Sorry, Miss, I don't mean to frighten the sister of our queen. I hope you don't find me or the rest of the Featherlands to be repulsive or intrusive to your way of life."
"Wh-what are you all?" asked Lilly quietly.
"Let me explain the best that I can," said the snake creature. "First off, my name is Flicker. 'Flicker the licker', but you may call me Flick, your highness. I do apologize for the abrasive way of which we, and by 'we', I do mean 'me', brought you here."
"Wait, you brought me here?" asked Lilly somewhat angrily.
"I do apologize, your majesty," repeated Flick.
"So, you were the one tickling me?" asked Lilly embarrassed.
"Yes, your majesty," said Flick. "I know you're new to this world, so I'll explain. In the Featherlands, our world, tickling is very common. We use it for salutations, partings, affection, or just for playing around. No matter what, tickling is always used as a positive expression, a form of flattery, friendship, and admiration, if you will." Lilly found this to be a cute little quirk of the world she found herself in. She was not immediately opposed to the idea of tickling being such a prominent interaction in society. She thought it might even bring people closer together in laughter and personal exchanges in physical affection. Lilly did, however, not forget how it was she found herself in this world in the first place.
"You used it to kidnap me," said Lilly dryly. "And how exactly did you do that anyway? I've been tickled a bunch of times, but never that bad." Flick exposed several long tongues out of his mouth that each moved individually. Lilly giggled and gave a sour face. "Eww, you licked my foot. Gross!" Flick smirked.
"Our entire world is centered around tickling," said Flick. "Everyone and everything here is ticklish, as well as well equipped to tickle in return. Go ahead, tickle that tree behind you." Lilly stalled, confused by what Flick meant by 'tickle that tree'. Tickling a tree was something unheard of in her world, but she thought she would humor the friendly residents and tickle the tree. Lilly approached the twisting, rainbow colored tree and began wiggling her fingers across the trunk. Not only did the tree react, but it reacted immediately. The tree began to squirm and dance in place, as if trying to fight off the friendly tickles. Lilly was taken back by this, but laughed at the humor of what she was doing and continued to tickle the trunk of the tree with all of her fingers.
"This is so weird!" laughed Lilly as she kept dancing her fingers up and down the trunk of the tree. The leafs atop the tree began to rustle. Long, limber branches fell down to her her level and started sliding their leafs into the baggy sleeves of Lilly's pajamas. Lilly stepped back and tried to shake the branches out, but soon after, she felt the leafs begin to lightly feather against her arm pits. The tree knew exactly how to navigate its way through her clothes to access her most ticklish spots. "Hahahahahahnnnnaahhhhhhhahahahahahahaat!!" Lilly laughed as the fluffy white leafs slid methodically against her bare ticklish skin from beneath her pajamas. Tucker and Flick just sat off to the side, laughing at the girl's plight.
"I told you that everything here is well equipped to tickle," said Flick. "It means it likes you and is returning the tickles you gave it." Lilly felt more small branches covered in delicate, wiggling leafs slip underneath her pajama top and start teasing her belly. Lilly laughed like a maniac as she tried to push the branches out, but with every one she was able to work out, she left herself vulnerable to two more.
"Nnnahahahahahahahahhaha!!!Nnnahaahaoooommoorrereeehahahahahahahah!!!! SSStttahhhhahahahahahahahahapppiiittttt!!!!" Lilly laughed and begged as she danced a ticklish tango between her and the tree. Suddenly, all the branches of the tree retracted out of her clothes and back into the canopy. Lilly caught her breath as she stared up at the leafs in the tree, hoping that their wouldn't be a second round. The teenage girl brushed her hair out of her face and adjusted her pajamas. She looked around to see Tucker and Flick still laughing at her. "Wow, you weren't kidding."
"That was you and the tree becoming friends," said Flick. Lilly turned to face the tree.
"Well, it was nice to make your friendship, tree," said Lilly toward the tree. The tree gave a slight bow to Lilly, acknowledging and accepting her friendship, and then returned to being a tree.
"The tree is pleased with your offer, your highness," said Flick. The smile washed from Lilly's face.
"Yes, about that," started Lilly, "This has been fun and all, but if my sister is here, I need to find her and bring her back home with me. I don't know why or how you think she's your queen. Her name is Silvia. She is eleven years old, goes to Tulip Grove Middle School, she likes to write and dance and sing. She is my sister and I need her to come home." Lilly's voice was stern and motherly, like someone scolding a small child. Tucker and Flick look at each other somberly.
"I cannot imagine to understand your confusion," said Flick. "But, you see, your sister, Queen Silvia, has been our queen for some time now. She has been what has kept our land so peaceful, carefree, and full of laughter. Now, there were those who wanted to use that laughter for evil and thus have built a kingdom just beyond the Featherlands for the sole purpose of its demise." Flick stopped, finding the words difficult to get out. "You see, we have found ourselves in quite a predicament. Our queen, your sister, has been taken by the evil witch Tickela. This witch wishes to overthrow your sister's kingdom and make it her own. This is why I brought you here. If anyone can save your sister from Tickela's clutches, it's you!"
"This witch has my sister?!" asked Lilly. A dreadful look came over the faces of Tucker and Flicker. "Where can I find her?"
"You wanna go ta th' bad place?" asked Tucker surprised.
"If it means getting my sister back, of course!" said Lilly bravely. "Now, which was is she?" Flick sighed.
"I hope you understand what it is you're prepared to do," said Flick. "Tickela's kingdom is far across the Featherlands. It would take days to travel across it, provided you're lucky enough to not run into any *cough* distractions."
"So, I should start now," said Lilly ambitiously. "Which way should I go?"
"Even when you get to Tickela's kingdom," continued Flick, "You'll be faced with dangers greater than you have ever know."
"Especially if she knows you're a comin' for th' queen," said Tucker, behaving comically frightened. "She'll be huntin' you down for sure!"
"I don't care about any of that," said Lilly. "Listen, you brought me here to help you get your queen back, right?"
"Yes, but I just want you to know that it wont be easy," said Flick. "Tickela is not like the rest of us. Where we use tickling as a fun, pleasurable activity of bonding and affection, Tickela uses it for evil. She pushes the limits of her victims, keeping those locked up and tickled mercilessly for unthinkable amounts of time. She tortures those she gets her hands on, keeping those of the Featherlands locked away and tickled sometimes for the rest of their lives. We would never use such a wonderful thing as a weapon of torment, but if she gets her hands on your sister's kingdom, that's how it will be for all of us. Yes, I am trying to scare you. I need you to know what it is you're up against. If you must go back home, it's not too late for you. I can take you there right now if you wish to still save yourself. Just know that you're our only hope, your majesty, to save our queen and your sister." Lilly stopped and drank in all the new information. If what the snake said was true, then her sister was being held and tortured by the hands of a monster. Lilly shuttered to think what Silvia must be going through.
"I just want my sister back," said Lilly. "I'll do whatever it takes. Now tell me, which way do I go?" Tucker and Flick look at each other hesitantly. Flick sighed and slithered down the path, deeper into the forest.
"If you insist on gong there, you shouldn't have to do it alone," said Flick. "Tucker and I will take you as far as the Featherland boarder, but you're on your own from there, right?" Tucker bounced off in Flick's direction excitingly.
"Right!" Tucker said. Lilly smiled, glad to have made some friends so quickly in the strange world that would look after her like they do.
"Thanks you guys," said Lilly. The girl smiled widely as she followed her new snake and bunny friends down the pathway that would lead to the rescue of her little sister. She had never imagined a world that could be so run by tickling, but she was beginning to like it, despite the circumstance. Lilly was fully aware of the dangers her own ticklishness provided for her, but if it meant getting her sister back from the hands of someone who would use it to torture her, Lilly was more than prepared to walk through the fire and the feathers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Deep within the stone walls of Tickela's torture chambers, the air hung heavily and moist with the constant panting of those trapped in it. Ironically anguished laughter filled the dreary room a constant orchestra of suffering. Lit torches hung from the walls providing just enough heat and light to aid in the constant sweating of those left in the room, as well as their ability to see what was coming next. These chambers were designed specifically to hold and torture just about anyone for days, months, and sometimes years. Hardly anyone left in that room to suffer was every let out again. Residents of the Featherlands were left in chains and bonds, hanging from the ceiling and attached to various devices, doomed to have their primary weakness, as well as their source of pleasure, exploited in the most torturous ways possible. In a separate chamber, children from all over the world were kept in similar contraptions, cursed to an ageless and highly ticklish life, full of only laughter. The laughter that accumulated in these chambers was acoustically channeled up into the main halls of Tickela's black palace, where elaborate parties and elegant dinners were held, entertained greatly by the chorus of laughter siphoned out of the captured subjects.

Deep within the catacombs of the palace laid the long intravenous system of torture chambers of various sizes and themes. In the darkest, dampest corners of the laughter flooded corridors laid special cells, designed for isolated torture sessions between one captive, several royally appointed torturers, and the devices they would use. From behind the door to the single most furthest chamber came the constant, tear filled laughter from a sweet, little girl. Inside, wearing only the tradition tattered captive garb that only covered her groin and breasts and strapped to a rack stretching out her arms and legs, Silvia Dawson screamed and cried with laughter at the hands of two brutish, professional tickle torturers. The two large, ogre-like creatures laughed mockingly at the little girl's state of ticklish anguish. One rotated a rotary wheel of bristles against the girl's feet while the other scrubbed against her armpits with special brushes designed to cover small areas effectively. Tears ran down the girl's rosy cheeks as she continued to laugh uncontrollably. The two brutes laughed mockingly at the girl's torment. Her toes wiggled under the constant rotating brushes as her upper body squirmed and danced against the rack.

"AAAAAHHHHh!! NNNOOOOOHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! PPLLLEASSEE SSTTTTOOOPPP!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! NNNNOOOO MOOOREEE!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" Silvia laughed and cried. The roomed echoed with her embellished laughter. This faltered the two brutes none in the slightest, who found the girl's tiny screams humorous, mocking her and laughing along at her misfortune. Β They continued to tickle the girl into complete hysterics. The rotary brushes soft bristles grazed their way menacingly across the girl's soft, bare soles as the other's brushes works in and out of her delicate armpits and sensitive tummy.

The door to the chamber swung open violently to reveal the evil witch Tickela. The two brutes looked back in fright, stopped their tickle assault and stood at attention. Silvia fought to catch her breath as Tickela entered the room. Eight long legs protruded out of her body and carried her slowly up to the girl. At the end of each one was a hand equipped with long, silver nails, like claws but much more delicate. On her back rested two large wings covered in black feathers. The witch held her face up close to that of Silvia's reddened cheeks. Her face was immaculate and beautiful, like a porcelain doll. Dark robes hung off her spider like body as she stood up tall on her back four legs in front of the girl.

"My, my," taunted the witch. "I finally have you now, Queen Silvia. How long has this strife been going on between our lands? Far too long, but now it's over. You should be glad. You are no longer queen. It must have been such a burden for you, having to keep my people away from your's. Ugh, it sounds so exhausting! But now, you don't have to worry about that anymore." Tickela placed a single long finger nail against Silvia's shallow, quivering bellybutton and flicked it. Silvia gasped. "No more worrying about territory or zoning issues. No more worrying about when and where I may decide to strike next. You lost, sweetie, and now you, and your precious Featherlands, are going to fall laughing eternally.

"Yo-you'll never get away with this!" said Silvia. Tickela was taken back with hearty laughter.

"Oh?" said Tickela. "And what do you think is going to stop me?"

"My sister," said Silvia. "My big sister will come and she will save me. Together we will put an end to you once and for all!" Tickela and the brutes joined together for a chuckle.

"You think so?" asked Tickela. The witch put two of her hands into her outstretched armpits, wiggling her fingernails lightly across Silvia's smooth skin while another two hands reached up and started exploring the girl's pale torso. The room once again became flooded with mad laughter as Tickela's fingers tickled more than any tickle Silvia had ever known.

"AAAAAHHHHH!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!" Silvia threw her head back in tiny, girlish laughter. Nothing she had ever experienced prepared her for the ticklish agony she felt from the evil witch Tickela's insane tickling fingers.

"Well, listen to be carefully. I will take over this land. Everyone will either join me or fall by me and your Featherland friends will have to watch as their queen, and their queen's sister, dances before me as slaves to eternal laughter. That, my queen, I can promise you." Tickela retracted her hands in disgust and turned to the brutes. "Keep her busy. I'll send two more to relieve you in a couple hours." Tickela scurried out of the room and slammed the door behind her. The two brutes assumed their original posts and continued tickling the poor, helpless queen.

Lilly... please... save me...

What a very interesting idea. I like how childlike it is. It feels kind of like re-watching "Neverending Story", "Babes in Toyland", "Labyrinth", or one of those other "Child enters magical world" types of stories. I remember seeing one many years ago, which took place in a world where everything was resolved by hugging. I can't remember the name of it, but the tree tickling scene reminded me of it.Β

I also love how it covers the two sides of tickling, fun vs torture. While there do exist other sides to it as well, you'd probably end up breaking the child-friendly theme if you went there.

Besides, simplicity is all part of the charm of stories like these. As other writers have said, fiction can be truer than truth in the way it uses stories of concrete good vs evil to convey complex, abstract inner struggles, or struggles between individuals, much like a ler and a lee struggling to find that happy balance between boredom and overwhelming hysteria.Β

There were a few issues I noticed like an abundance of unneeded adverbs at points, but from looking at the size of your gallery, I get the impression that this story was written long ago, so I'll just continue along from here.Β

Overall, wonderful idea, and great job conveying a somewhat mature theme in the style of a children's movie. I look forward to seeing where this goes as I read on.Β
