Description Ok this seems necessary... >.>
--> these guys are CATS and NOT dogs!! --> people learn the difference, it's not so difficult

The two siderian brothers Axel (left) and Morten (right) defend their land -the territory around Fortress Sætensen- against the revenge taking relatives of Bjørn...
My main character Stian (the son of Morten) has killed Bjørn; as revenge for threatening him, attempting to kill him and bullying him during is childhood. After this murder, the relatives of Bjørn wanted to look after this murderer and ended up at his territory - but unfortunately for them, they meet the rest of Stian's family and will face these two powerful brothers who will not allow the intruders on their land..meanwhile Stian has been disappeared...
This will be somewhere behind the scenes of my third book/online graphic novel. Maybe it will appear as a scene, maybe not..

These two guys Axel; (a character of ) and are siderians.
Siderians are a horse sized FELINES. They look like some kind of Siamese cat - pantherine hybrid; so NO dogs/wolves at all! Or do my cats look like dogs??...really people...learn the differences ...or read the artist comment! -
...srry for the caps lock but sometimes people have their eyes somewhere lost in their pockets or something...

Lol- yeah true. Though their faces look a bit too -as I call it- kitten-like. But this is also quite an ancient drawing... in the more recent drawings the siderian's faces are havier and more pantherine like.

These characters are SO OBVIOUSLY feline. People who think otherwise must not know how vastly different the anatomies are from one another.

So sad that there are people who can't decide of an animal if it's feline or canine... I've never thought there people who can't 0.0

Yeah and it's often the extreme wolf-loves who don't know how a wolf actually looks - or well let's say 'wolfs' haha

When I first saw this, I knew it was a feline, but I can also see how some people may mistake them for a dog or wolf. They do have stronger and more defined paws, typical of artists on dA with wolves, and their skinny body structure also lends them to being more canine-ish...
But I can see the features that make it out to be a cat, also. I think this is a really cool species, and I love it!

FelisGlacialis In reply to lifanonline [2012-04-01 17:38:14 +0000 UTC]

Yes, people on DA often draw wolves wrong but also felines wrong. So it does not help with getting a correct image of how a wolf and cat actually look. But cheederians are defenitely not looking any canine with the long legs i think - because many felids have long legs. But yes I guess that the extreme wolf-bias here on DA direclty make people think about canids >> Pretty annoying, especially because I see the differences clearly. That's why I have made this: [link] - just to show my watchers that cheederians have no canine features at all. Anyway I'm very glad that you instantly recognized them as felines

Thanks! Yeah it amazes me as well...It seems that a lot of people on DA don't know exactly what are the differences between canids and felids...but to me it's just such a biig difference that I cannot imagine how people can see dogs in my cats...maybe it's just the wrong image people on DA sometimes have of wolves. Sometimes even the weirdest creatures are called wolves Oo

I can't say I've ever mistaken a cat for a dog! Perhaps they just see what they wan't to see... Which makes me wonder; do they really look at the pictures for more than a second..? :/

How do people confuse these guys with dogs??!? Must be the long legs 'cause the rest is clearly feline (to me anyway )

Awesome work mate, as always Their poses with the back lighting give them a very mystical and powerful presence.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FelisGlacialis In reply to TheBlack-Kat [2012-01-12 19:47:48 +0000 UTC]

Good question...the legs are by far heavier than the legs of canines - and even than most felids. At least if you see Servals, cheetahs, caracals, lynxes and even housecats you can see that the legs are as long as the legs of cheeds and even thinner than cheed-legs. So yeah...I'm indeed amazed by the anatomical knowlege of most people here on DA But Im glad you clearly see they are kitties

FelisGlacialis In reply to Svartya [2011-12-28 16:32:29 +0000 UTC]

Thanks!!! Yeah they have their kinda fortress somewhere on their territory as well XD
And yeah...some people still fav cheederians in the folders wolves/canines/dogs whatever woofs...It can be accidentally but I also know that there are really people who see slender animals with pointy ears in temporal forest and think WOLF without looking to their huge feline paws and short feline face Oo...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Svartya In reply to FelisGlacialis [2011-12-30 03:36:41 +0000 UTC]

lol a fortress? hell nice! *3*
Yeah, i remember first time i saw Stian i though it was a wolf..but i din't payed much attention to the pic >:U then i started to think, he doesn't have wolf characteristics...the big paws, head format and of course the body structure...O3o
It is strange because you always put on the picture's description that Cheederians are felines...perhaps most people just look at the pictures O.o

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FelisGlacialis In reply to Svartya [2012-01-10 22:43:08 +0000 UTC]

yep. Oh maybe you saw him on an old drawing then? Because I have to say...that among my cheeds he's one my most 'feline looking' characters - especially the people who have an Oriental cat directly see his Balinese cat face and appearance. So yeah to me I'm seriously veryveryvery amazed if people see a wolf in Stian because if he was 6 times smaller he almost could have won prices on a catshow as being a white Oriental Longhair or Balinese...so yeah nothing wolf in him at all...and because of the strooong bias there is on DA toward wolves I always say in the description that cheeds are cats and not wolves at all.

Absolutely STUNNING work, MysticA!
I adore their powerful, dominant stances, and the defiant expressions! I'm also growing to like Axel more and more, and I love how his fur look here, and those piercing eyes. The backlighting on both characters is absolutely gorgeous, and I love how the blurred bg draws attention to them - also loving how the other two cheederians look shadowy and out of focus.
Very realistic and emotive - a wonderful piece yet again!

Thanks!! Yeah I have to say that Axel & Morten are also one of my favs - I can't really choose between the two. Both have something very special. And yeps I tried to create a kinda depth of field effect and played again with one of the most difficult lighting thingie - backlit ...only multiple (more than two..) light sources is more difficult maybe I will try that once again too

I told her how funny he could be. and you know me I will never mind spoilers.
