Description More original art! Yipee! (*Prepare for significantly fewer favs and comments self*)

Erica Waters comes to New York City with her fiancΓ© when he gets traded to a team located on the east coast. Faced with the prospect of having to relocate and find a new job, Erica's estranged mother Adrienne offers Erica temporary ownership of Femmes Fatales Investigations while the senior members take a leave of absence. While Erica's education makes her uniquely qualified for the job, she finds resistance from one of the detectives who resents her being given a position of power without having properly earned it.

Since I intend to have Erica join the Femmes Fatales in the field, I knew she needed a costume. Though she's more qualified for book-keeping than combat, Erica still gets out onto assignments once she begins getting training from her teammates. Erica's previous look I had come up with included a pleated skirt and her accent colour was white... I changed that up this time. She looks a little more like a go-go dancer but it's somehow appropriate that she has a more west coast vibe to her outfit (i.e. hotpants) than the others. She's an LA girl living in New York so it's only logical that she'd have a different approach to fashion. Anyway, this is Erica's preliminary look. So what do you all think? Does it work for her?

Yay! Another new(ish) character. Erica really interests me. I really loved seeing you update her in the piece with her sisters and now we get to see her by herself and in her costume to boot too.

I know Erica doesn't join the cast until season 3, but I already feel like she'd be a favorite of mine. I really find her back story interesting. How Adrienne left her three daughters to finally persue her carrer. I'm sure that had a huge impact on all three girls development. I find it surprising though that Erica is the middle child, usually the middle child is left in the background by the achievments of the eldest and the cuteness of the youngest. I really love how Erica steps out of that middle child box and becomes her own person. I really can't wait to see the first meeting of her and Adrienne. I can totally picture it being epic! I also think that it's interesting (I really wish I knew another word to use besides that, it's getting verrrry redundent I bet) that she's the type of character to decide to move cross country with her boyfriend, especially considering how close you said her, Tanya and Amy are. That's another thing I like about her character, the closeness she shares with her sisters. I really admire that. So many families are torn apart and to see them be close, after losing there mother, is really nice.

I really like Erica's updated look. I thought the white was a good choice for her stand out color, because, well, it made her stand out. I do have to say though that I'm liking this pink even better. I think it shows off just how young and cute she is. It meshes well with the other colors better then the white did. I think it would have been nice to see you do her and Ben and add them to your Femmes ensemble piece. I think that losing the skirt was a good choice, mostly for all the reasons Rakai said XD I mean I think it would have been really awkward for her if she was fighting some goon and she high kicked him and exposed her underwear. So the shorts really make more sense. I think adding the thigh high boots to it made it more classy in a way. It helped it stray away from her showing off to much skin. The boots may not be to practical, but they sure do look fierce! Even though she's more qualified for keeping books than for crime fighting, I can totally picture Erica kicking ass and taking names in this outfit. You did a great job on her re-design.

The art itself is, in one word, fabulous. I really love the addition of the chair. I think it really brings something extra to this piece. I really love how you drew it as well. The curved seat looks really cool. The outfit is the shining star here though. You just keep drawing these uniform outfits like it's nothing, at least it appears that way to me. I really love how you've come up with a different vibe for each characters uniform though, which I've said before. I really love the long gloves and belt buckle. I think the design of the buckles for each character is great. I love seeing something tie all the looks together. I have to say I also really love the twin strips of fabric hanging down over her belt, at least that's what I assume they are. Not really sure how to describe them. And then there's her hair. Wow, is it gorgous. It's so thick and flowing down her shoulder rather nicely. I really love it.

Overall, I think this might just be my second favorite Femmes Fatales piece I've seen you do. It's going to hard to top that Ben piece you just did. Lol. I'm sure you're up for the challenge though and probally already have something just as great in the works. As always, I'm gonna end by saying I look forward to whatever else you have up your sleeve. I just love checking my messages on DA everyday, and seeing another great piece done by you.

The oldest-middle-youngest sibling dynamic is definitely at play with the Waters sisters. Erica does tend to be the diplomat and she doesn't really like stepping on other people's toes. Of course, she's arguably the most adventurous of her sisters. Like you said, she moves across the country. It's a huge risk and she leaves a lot behind in Los Angeles. The question then remains... how much can go wrong for Erica without her sisters?

Thanks. I'm glad you like the new design. It's good to see the elements of the pink, the shorts and the boots have gone over well. You actually really understood why I gave her longer boots -- cover up some of that skin! Naturally, it was also because I wanted to make sure all the Femmes had different kinds of shoes. None of them have thigh-hi boots. I really do want them to look like a team but look like individuals as well. And aww aren't you sweet? You really do look forward to your messages for seeing more art by me? That's awesome!

(fascinating is a great synonym for interesting BTW)

Ooooh, I'm gonna guess a whole bunch can go wrong for Erica without her sisters. I really love seeing sibling relationships. It probably steams from that fact that I don't have any, so I have to live vicariously though others, either on TV or movies XD I'm sad, I know.

Yay! I love when I catch something right. I figured that that was why you gave her the thigh-highs, to cover her up. I know how much you hate over exposed skin on females. You know, I think that that is really fascinating (Thanks!) that each of the Femmes has different shoes. That's something I really should have noticed, but didn't for whatever reason.

I totally look forward to your pieces. Whenever you tell me something new is posted I have to run and check it out lol

It's hard to say whether I love seeing sibling relationships or not. I'm also an only child so a part of me has a hard time relating to those relationships since I've never had any and often I'm glad that I don't have any siblings. There are pros and cons to both sides though.

You never noticed that they all wore different shoes? How could you miss that? XD

Yeah, there definitely are pros and cons to having sibings. I wouldn't say I'm glad that I'm an only child, sometimes it's been awfully lonely, but I will say that I sorta am selfishly glad since I never really liked to share as a child. I'm sure that I would have learned how to rather quickly though if I did have siblings.

I have no clue how I missed that.

I think me not having any siblings has given me a lot of advantages that I maybe otherwise wouldn't have had. It's possible that my dad couldn't have afforded for me to go to school if I had older siblings and I wouldn't have received the same kind of attention I received if I had to split that with siblings. It sounds selfish but I don't mind it. I'm kind of materialistic and selfish in a lot of ways and that's likely a product of being an only child but what do I care? I have lots of stuff!

While I do think that it can be lonely to be an only child, I also think that I was lucky in that I had relatives or friends who I could play with in order to remedy that loneliness. Of course, it's completely possible that were I to have had siblings I may not have been as imaginative or creative as I am now.

Lol. Yeah. Like I said, being an only child does have its advantages. I just think it's sometimes interesting to think about what my life could have been like had I not been an only child. Like you said, I wouldn't have as much as I do. I also probably would have been the oldest, so that means I would have had to most likely take on a caretaker role. Sometimes I do think I'm glad that I don't have siblings because I see some that are torn apart and not speaking and I wouldn't want that at all. Then you see others that are close, some to close. It can be weird seeing people that only do things with their siblings lol

Yeah, that's true. I think only children have to be creative to survive. They have to learn how to entertain themselves. I know I certainly did that alot.

It's actually interesting to see the ways in which I deal with siblings or lack of siblings in my series. I've noticed that when characters have siblings in my series it's usually a sister or two. Adrienne is the only one in the main cast with brothers. Melissa and Tai are only children... which is funny since they're so different from one another.

Erica Waters! Now here is a face that I haven't seen in months but either way, this is something pretty cool to actually see here!

Talk about a total re-design on the character. I have to say that while I thought that the original design was sexy enough as it is, this one definitely takes the cake here and sometimes, an overhaul on a character design can actually be something of a good thing. In this case, it truly had done wonders for Erica's design. I really like this different approach to the character and I have to say that it thoroughly works here on so many levels now that she is someone who is capable of working on the field. The old design was unique, but it really didn't show off that field agent approach due to the mini skirt. So let's go over what has been used in the re-hauling of this particular character, shall we?

For one, the shorts. This is something which adds practicality over the mini-skirt, because chances are that Erica will be doing a lot of jumping and kicking-- so the idea of her with a mini skirt while doing that, will obviously lead to a lot of panty shots and that's just something probably not needed. So the shorts offer the same free movement but it covers more overall. So this is definitely gives Erica the ability to run, jump and kick without the worry of upskirt shots! The boots in particular are a nice visual addition though I am not sure if heels actually work on the field, but then again these probably aren't the super high heels and if Erica needs balance, she can probably maintain them with these heels. If anything I can see kick shots to the face, and those would be particularly painful if she uses the heels in her boots. So that's another addition to practicality I suppose.

I am definitely feeling the gloves here, and really like how they extend to the upper arms. And I also really like how they are fingerless too. I just generally like fingerless gloves, so that's something of a plus there. As far as the suit itself goes, I like how you used pink as a trim, and I do like how you changed the trim from grey to pink. It really works here very nicely.

Truly a cool re-design of the character. I dig it!

Months? I just submitted a piece with her and her sisters the other day.

I'm glad you approve of the updated costume. I knew I had to do something different for her and I just wanted to try this out. Each of the Femmes are supposed to have their own unique look and so I wanted to take that approach again with Erica. None of them wear shorts so I wanted to try it on her. Of course, the longer gloves and boots were meant to counteract the exposure of skin on her legs. The high heeled boots are something I'm not sure would stay as part of the design though. I imagine they'd likely be more practically designed for the field. However, I think the point of the costume is meant to really emphasize her different aesthetic compared to the others. They've been kicking ass and taking names for a few years and so she's new to this. It should show in her costume. Initially she'd be more concerned about having a cute looking outfit than of being field-ready.
