Okay maybe it is funny, but only if the joke isn't at your expense

You do know that I was quoting Mike and Bryan right? It's THEIR quote, not mine

I know that. I've had a bad relationship before and I know this.

But it's not even funny... I don't know, that one was kinda below the belt.

I'm a multi-shipper (YAY! There needs to be more of us) so the pairing here really doesn't anger me/make me fangirly. But I do agree that this is one of the more "subtle acting" moments, and I really liked this scene for that reason. Not the kissing/Maiko/Zuko hair swishing. That's even more noticeable in this storyboard, where the emotion is really visible. Sadly, I think the cleanup that's necessary to do long animations (like for TV) kind of take away from the emotion present here.
But this scene was well-executed, and to me, a much better kiss than most of the other ones on the show (Stickler point: "I don't hate you, too" scene. That scene made me laugh so hard because of how, well, out of character Zuko and Mai seemed...I mean, fluff always works better on paper for me).
Anyway, thanks for letting us Avatards get a dose of insider work!

Aaah! You drew the scene? I love you for this! This got me hooked to Maiko fandom. I have, like, a collection of Maiko kisses in my computer, lol. XDD It's weird, but heck, it's MAIKO. <3

YOU drew this kiss? That's possibly my favorite Avatar kiss ever. I really don't know why... I'm not even much of a Maiko shipper. But yeah. When I get around to making shipping videos you know this will be there. lol.

I'm a huge Avatar fan, I like that you guys did real research on martial arts fighting styles and that you guys didn't settle for one season on a show this complex. I would actually love to see this show continue on after Aang beats the firelord and have a season with entirely new characters a hundred years in the future or somthing like that.

I'm a Kataang, so I'm not angry. Although, when I saw it, I thought it was a little random. But then I bought the special edition of "Nick Mag." After I read the comic about how they got together, it ceased to seem random.
ALL ZUTARIANS, HATE ME! FOR, I NOT ONLY SUPPORT KATAANG, I ALSO SUPPORT ZUKO WITH TY LEE! Heheheheheheheheheeeeee!

No offense to the studio, but this storyboard has a great deal more personality than the finished product. Also, Mai's face looks much less harsh, and this is the one time that would be most appropriate - even if it's just for a second! Maybe next time I watch the DVD I'll pause it and stare at this storyboard for a minute while listening to the scene.

Actually... my initial reaction to that kiss was....
"Huh?? Just like that?"
Then me and my brothers go...
"Perhaps that's why it's American." XD

This will probably get lost in the sea fans (hey, I'm one too) commenting on how awesome it is for you to share with us, but I'll make the comment anyway.
These were all very interesting. And definitely uniquely interesting to me (I think, maybe I'm wrong in m assumption). When I was a kid (tween- teen) my dad worked freelance on some storyboards during his retirement. Casper and Life with Louie are the only ones that come to mind, but there were others. Anyway, I used to watch him and help him, and what I find really interesting is the format you've got going here.
You see, the format of those storyboards was 3 frame horizontal. You had 3 boxes horizontally laid out, with all of the dialogue and direction stuff below it. So this vertical stuff is VERY interesting to me and the first time I've ever seen it. It seems way more efficient. When did you guys start doing it that way?
One thing we used to do, was use post-it notes alot. I'm not sure how to explain it, but I was wondering if you guys do that at all.

What does the "*HOOK-UP" before and on scene #33 mean? (Aside from the fact they're hook'n-up...)

Well, she was happy enough before Zuko was banished, apparently, stands to reason that the separation put her into depression...like Zuko's swords....can't work alone, they're two halves of a single whole.
Possibly.
