The war was a sort of cross between a bourgeois revolution and a war of succession.
Two queens fought each other for the throne, Lady Lyra Erinn and Lady Deanne McKamer.
One supported by the nobility and strong from the direct bloodline of the previous Queen Eternal, the other strong with the support of Congress and the backing of the bourgeoisie.
The latter raising the Red Rose banner against the former's white banner.

Pictured is one of the Red Rose regiments of riflemen, The 12th Barlead Regiment of Musketeers.
The regiment covered itself in glory at the Battle of Gelbrook where they withstood three cavalry charges before falling back in good order
