Description and so I die. approximately 30 hrs of coloring later and...the first draft is done. I'm sure my teacher will have some tips for me on how to improve it, but for now, I declare it as done as it's going to be before class tmr/later today. I never thought that art hw would bring me so close to madness, but this SOB...I'm not completely pleased, but there are things that I just can't figure out how to fix...and it makes me sad...

Anyway, sleep...now...

thanks! y'know when I first finished this thing I was kind of in hate with it(only a little bit) but now...it's totally grown on me. All of this feedback has given me the ability to look at it with a new eye. It is much appreciated XD

Oh, hun, I am soooooo green with envy right now! This is absolutely beautiful. The piece just glows, and the little details add so much: the texture of the roots and the leaves, the little people up on the main root, the doors in the trees... I love the colors. You are so talented.

thank you darling. There are, of course, a number of tweaks I'd like to make to it, but overall, I'm rather pleased with how it came out XD Look at the growth in just 3 months!

Holy hell this is gorgeous! I didn't actually look at who did this piece, but kept it in my thumbnails this whole time because I knew no matter how ridiculously busy school has been I would have to save it to fav's and comment on it! This is brilliant work. Seriously! The old forgotten feeling, the light streaming through the trees, just everything! I wish I lived there so much

^__^ It was really fun (and nervous breakdown inducing) to do. It's still not quite where I want it to be, but I'm learning, and hopefully I can figure out ways to improve the parts that bother me. I'm really glad that I've gotten the feel I was aiming for across, though. Artistic perfectionism aside, one of the most important things to think about is what others get out of the image you present, and it does appear that in that, I was successful XD

Oh, MAN. Excuse me while I... spend a while drooling over this. 0___0 Lyn, it's incredible! THIS is your 'first draft'?! It's barely even recognisable as the sketch from the other week! I mean... hagkljfhbgjkhb. It's so beautiful - before it was a drawing, but now it's like a *stillshot*, you just brought it so completely to life! And the feel of it, wow - it's this late-afternoon sensation, with the light getting that twilight richness, and the way the water ripples is *gorgeous*, and the trees are so graceful and old-looking and OH MAN. This is just amazing. Congratulations, hun, every ounce of effort you've ever put into this picture in any form at any stage was WORTH IT.

It was hell, and honestly, I'm not at a pont of satisfaction with it yet, but I can appreciate the better parts for what they are. This whole development as an artist this is just...I don't even know what to say. I get into these manic moments and I swear I'm a little on the not so sane side at times, but I dunno...I think that is actually a benefit to an artist. Be a little crazy, a little quirky, and maybe, just maybe you will manage to come up with something a little different from the others. I'm not there yet, but I've also not given up hope. It would be pretty sad if I had considering how it's only my first frigging semester.

God, I'm slow at the moment -.-;; Heehee, I have to say, I giggled over your 'a little on the not so sane side at times' comment... but I agree, I think it benefits more to be rather less than normal than to have regular thoughts and regular ideas and methods? That little something extra (aforementioned less-than-sane-ness) would be a boost, in my opinion

Haha, I'm glad you're still self-believing - you've got so much talent, and you've already improved in such leaps and bounds. I was telling my mum about it the other day; I already thought you were awesome before, but with all the practice and new methods and guidance, you are absolute kicking ass I just can't wait to see what more you come up with!

Thank you! I spent SO much time on this thing. I'm glad it came out ok. I'm just sad I had to put Blitz aside to work on this monster. The chapter is SOOOO close to being done ;__;

of course I don't mind. I'm very flattered Thank you! And I would love to hear from you at ffn, but don't push yourself. Just rest up as much as you need and let your Riku pamper you and take good care of you I'm glad that you liked the chapter. Indeed...it's all about the time put in apparently. 30+ hrs on a digipainting will lead to...different results I guess...

For a "first draft" this is absolutely phenomenal!

I am very impressed with the amount of colour and texture that you got into the foliage and bark of the trees! Your sense of lighting is very accurate, and I especially love the rays of light that are filtering through in the back/middle of the image!

Really, you did such a wonderful job on this - rest assured that all of your hard work has paid off! I wish you the best of luck with the following drafts of this image, and the rest of this project as a whole!

Thank much! I'm like...so brain dead now because of this painting. I feel like my brain is going to ooze out of my ear now or something. Those darn trees gve me SO much trouble, and honestly, I'm still not pleased. I'm not sure what I'm looking for in them, but clearly I missed it or something. But whatever/ This is getting very close to there and I cannot complain about the outcome really. I'm glad it is pleasing to your eyes
