Another photo from one of my self-mini-shoots. It was a little easier in the daytime, ahah hah. Hopefully having a snow photoshoot this winter

This costume is like a big art project. Dreamworks kills me with all their, albeit beautiful, very-hard-to-reproduce textures. To me, it's so much easier to make a costume with clean, neat construction than to recreate something old and weathered. Or covered in a light frost, even!
So although this costume looks and seems easy, I spent countless hours painting the hoodie and pants. I want to remake the pants altogether to try a different technique.
My proudest part of this costume is the staff that I constructed from scratch. I don't make props a lot, but when I do I often like them better than the costume itself... X'D
I'm not 100% satisfied with the wig, but it'll do!

Basically I started with two wooden poles, and cut the one into the hook shape and attached the pieces together with epoxy. Then I covered the whole thing in Bondo for the bark texture. Finally painted it brown and lightly spray painted for the frost.

For the hoodie, I used regular white fabric paint for most of it. The sparkly parts you see are probably the "3D" fabric paint I used on top, to give it some dimensions. The "translucent" white 3D paint has a bit of a glimmer.

I was wrecking my head with how to make the rough bark-like-effect but now I'm just short on bondo

Wow, thank you so much! Props are always an interesting challenge for me, since I don't have a ton of experience with them!
I think bondo was a great solution! It is a little hard to work with because there's only 3-5 mins of working time until it hardens, so only mix a little bit at a time (stick with the scoop size they give you, or maybe even a little less) I used a popsicle stick to put the bondo on, like icing a cake!
I used the all-purpose bondo, like this. [link] It doesn't even have to be bondo-brand, but will be called "all-purpose filler". It's all the same stuff!

How exactly DID you do the pants? That's the part I feel I'll have the hardest part with. Like, did you use brown leggings or, what?

The pants are made from scratch with a linen-look fabric. I didn't quite like the color brown they were, and ended up lightly spray painting them with a light brown! hahah. And sprayed a bit more heavily around the front/back of the thigh area. Then I did a splatter-technique with a toothbrush to texturize it a bit.
I'm not overly happy with them, so I want to try again with different fabric and using bleach to pull some of the color out of the fabric to get that weathered-look.
I find weathering stuff really hard!

Ooh, that seems like an interesting way to go. But do you think brown velour fabirc would work? It seems like it might add texture and be warmer for those cosplays in the colder parts of the year (which, here in Colorado, we only have two cosplay events really, and in the colder months)

I personally would use suede instead of velour, if you're going to go in that direction. Velour I think has a bit too much "pile"/fuzzyiness, so I think a suede would be better. Plus, I think suede looks more natural, and it comes in different types.
Ironically this costume isn't the best for winter, hahah! What gets me is the no shoes. I'm looking forward to getting frostbite while prancing around in snow for a photoshoot!

I didn't think of suede, I wonder if I can get it cheap at Sally's or something. It seems like it might be a bit more durable even.
If you added some fake fur or a lining inside the hoodie it might be warmer, but the shoes thing is a tuffy. I don't suppose you could wrap your feet in sarran wrap? I can walk in the snow without shoes for a few minutes and at least in the snow they can't see how red your feet are.

Sadly, it's kind of unlikely unless it really picks up at the box office. At this rate, Dreamworks won't even make their money back on the film, let alone a profit. But let's hope
