hawkeye and Havoc really beat up on him about it too, but isn't that insubordination? and another thing, Havoc was with mustang looking for Lust below Lab #3, still in his ninja diguise when lust attacked. they narrowly escape thanks to mustang but then Havoc needs a light for his smoke. suddenly mustang the hero becomes once again, mustang, THE SOGGY MATCH MAN JUST BECAUSE THEY"RE BOTH WET!

OK, for the record, i ENJOY using templates! jeez.
second off, sure, i need to go to ur house anyway to submit the pic i made for robby's toy story contest. it's the most work i've ever really done on one skecth so im pretty excited to see if i can win. i have the pencil version, the version i inked, and the colored? inked version. I even made line art!
PS- IM NOT GOING TO STOP USING TEMPLATES AND IT IS TOTALLY OK TO USE THEM! starting with nothing but a bare base can lead to something really nice looking.

Anyways the only problem I have with templates is that when someone uses them they go "LOOK WHAT I MADE!" like they made it all themselves. Its pretty much like tracing a picture...i guess. People need to put up their own style and pictures instead of tracing or using bases. Its fun to use bases sometimes (like customisers and stuff like that) but there are people out there who claim it to be theirs.
PS- I GOT POKEMON HEART GOLD!...but i cant beat stupid Ash (i mean "red")

my deviation for robby's contest is really cool though and i NEED to show it to you. i think i could win the contest!
look, i did alot on that template.
I changed the skin color ( both the lit and unlit areas of the skin)
added shading to areas that didn't have it before
added HAIR
those clothes were NOT easy make by the way, and purely on paint from windowsXP , i think i deserve at lease SOME credit for effort.
just look up "chibi base" and it's like the second deviation that comes up and THEN tell me that what i worked on for 3-4 hours using a crappy, decade-old paint program isn't even worth acknowledgeing. don't write off people who use templates, please. they deserve credit.

lol I beat the game now...I have no goal! I need a new pokemon game! well then again I do want a pokewalker so I can get some stuff for a limited time only (like mew and stuff) and I need to trade with you on your diamond version (there are lots of pokemon I cannot get on this version that you can only get on diamond, pearl, ect.)

So basically, tracing but adding different stuff to it...lol...If you want people to be really impressed, you need your own style, facial expressions, poses, characters, ect. You'll get more comments and page views for stuff like that. Robbie says I should make comics of my own characters to get more watchers. Just look at Stupid Fox!

What is your style then? Anime isn't "your own unique style" (I know people who say they have their own style when really its just regular anime)

Why do you own all 3 when each are almost exactly the same? I only had it for like a week and I beat the game...Marcia has had it for a long time and is stuck on the elite 4 (I beat them 5 times because I needed to raise the level of some of my other pokemon by using Exp. share) But my Typhlosion (however you spell it) is level 90 right now

i have all three because of the subtle differences that are important in catcing them all, which i have ALMOST DONE, i need like three more to have every one on my diamond, from ALL the regions ;3
and anime has MANY different sub styles. plus, i have developed multiple different styles of my own that are not anime. i have to be versatile you know.

People say anime has a bunch of different styles but look, all of those styles have been used before. Like sure you can use different eyes and noses and such but lets face it, its all been done before. Like with different styles I mean like Butch Hartman (Fairly Odd Parents) obviously has his own style. If you look at this pic you can tell its Butch Hartman's style [link]
Then there is Happy Tree Friends, Family Guy, South Park, Making Fiends, El Tigre, Invader Zim, Total Drama Island, blah blah blah blah. And then with most anime shows (not all) They all look like they could be from the same shows if you've never seen them before. Like I saw some pics on google and they all look like they could be from the same show. Some artists who drew anime all their life are longing to get out of the anime phase and find their own style. They say they feel limited on expressions (like when an anime character is nervous all you usually see is a sweat drop or something) Although if you use anime correctly then you can be a really good artist. You need to get photoshop or another program
PS: Rachel's made an animation for a school contest last month and there has been big news about it! The schools contest was about making something about the oil spill. Some kids made posters, some made videos with their toys, but rachel made an animation! I did the voice of one character and rachel did the other. Anyways, the school board was talking about it a lot and then it was on the news!.....for a few seconds! The whole thing wasnt about the animation it was just about the whole contest but most of the footage was our video

ok, well it ISN'T just eyes and noses first off. and, that pic doesn't look like an authentic butch hartman style, idk where you found it, but it looks like someone trying to draw like him.
every anime has a different style, even if it has the same animators and/or voice actors as another anime. for example, the shading, whether they use very blended shading where it is diffcult to tell if there are two colors, shading using lines to show distorted distance (used in anime AS WELL as manga), shading something distant by making completely black or another color on one side, or even just drawing a line and filling one side in with a darker shade of the same color. some shows even use lighter shades to show distance, and somehow, it makes visual sense.
the eyes are key too, because common shading and lighting marks found in certain areas of the eye can defin a show's style. while im on the topic of facial features, i should mention that the amount/shape of the reflective marks on hair differs, if any at all. hair between not only genre's of anime but individual anime series differs in style, like bouncy, big, in large tousel's, or flat, hanging in a more realistic way that doesn't give the impression that the character spends half the night carefully applying hair gel.
face shape is also important, though it tends to correlate with a character's physique. patterns in fave shape such as how pointed or "chistled" ( or is it "chizzled" ?...) features like the nose and chin are.
addressing the body, proportions are often different in different styles, such as having longer arms than what might be more realistically proportionate to the abdomin in reality. the same goes for appendages like the legs, along with areas like neck, shoulders, hips, torso, feet, hands etc. plus, it goes width, length, depth-wise and more.
these are just beginning factors for observing a style in anime, but there is actually immense difference if you know where to look. with the amount of anime I WATCH, it comes first nature to me, but i can see where you're coming from.

I dont think "shading" is much of a style. But that picture is by Butch Hartman. its the only known picture that he's drawn of another nicktoon.
But thats not what I mean by "drawing style" Most people actually want people to recognize what their style is, as with anime it seems more like you have to watch a million shows every day until you find it out.
You even said yourself that you couldnt add your own style with anime. Probably accidentally but when I said "Robbie HAS put an anime picture up. He just added his own style to it." Then you replied something like "No, thats not right."
Things would probably be different if people didnt want to copy Osamu Tezuka's style. The bad thing about copying styles is that you'll get stuck with it, never developing your own style.

different people have different styles of drawing yes. and just like with any other pic, they develop their own drawing style when adhearing to the customs of drawing what is considered anime.
i don't remember that well, but if i am remembering correctly, IM NOT SURE AND I MAY REMEMBER BETTER LATER SO DON'T QUOTE ME ON THIS, but i think i said that it was a rendition of an anime character in a non-anime kind of realistic style. it was about his pic of vegita, right?
i don't agree with you that everyone is copying his style. evenif he started it, you've even pointed out how much this is true too, but anime, like any other style, evolves over time. and that has happened.

I really dont see how shading MAKES a style. Butch Hartman shades sometimes but wether its shaded or not you cold still tell whos style it it. If there is one picture of a character thats shaded and one that isnt, how does it make a difference in the style?
Well those "different styles" dont change too much in anime. it hardly makes a difference at all with the arms and junk. When you get right down to it they all look almost exactly alike. Hair style cannot make your style either unless you use it all the time. Back to Butch Hartman, he uses that "timmy hair" a lot so when you see that you kin of think its Butch Hartman's style of hair. With anime, they have a lot of crazy hair styles so unless someone only uses one certain hair style, they arent really considered to be a part of "your own unique style"
It was not on his vageta picture. It was a picture of some girl that he go a request for. Anyways, I do not recall you saying any big words that I do not understand. This picture had anime eyes but still with Robbie's style.
He was very popular with his style of big eyes so others used it which led up to today's style of big eyes. But look, it seems that every person in Japan who learns to draw tends to draw in the anime style. If someone were to branch out and make their own style that would probably be great. Again, what people who are trying to get out of the anime phase say that they feel their pictures dont have enough emotion to them. Not jst with expressions but with the body poses too.

anime is so common in japan that virtually every person there is exposed to it, just like how many american kids are exposed to cartoons. it's the same concept.

It doesn't matter whether or not I watch current anime shows. I can still see pictures too. And I have seem several shows. Lilo and stitch is new, Ive seen the new kimba movie from 2009, Ive had to watch several episodes of bleach, not to mention the horrible shows that come on at 7:00 AM You can also just see the way people draw too.
Yes kids in Japan are exposed to anime but they are also exposed to our shows as well. As we are exposed to theirs. But there are people here who draw in the Japanese style and others who just draw realistically. And our cartoons each have a different, unique style so the kids arent just drawing american style cartoons because there is no american style. You can see an american cartoon and a brittish cartoon and there are no amazing differences as with the american and japanese styles. The point is that you want people to know your style whether they watch it a lot or not. I do not watch Family Guy, South Park, or Happy Tree Friends but I can easily tell what style it is from. How could anyone tell if someone drew in "Bleach" style?
It is true that everyone who draws anime has their own way of drawing it. Like how DBZ looks nothing like the Naruto style. But I like I said Ive seen the style before. The only way someone could tell something was in a DBZ style is if yuo gave the character huge, spiky, shining yellow hair.
You said the arm lengths count as a style, but I have a character with short stubby arms, and one with longer arms too, it doesnt make any difference. Just as shading does not either.

i mean watch alot of shows, not just a couple, and the arms and legs thing is an INDICATOR. for exampl, if someone always draws their characters with long, lanky arms and legs, it's a part of their style. see? i already told you im not going to argue with you about this, and your last comment proves you din't understand what I'm trying to say

But what animes do you know that have a different style that I've never seen done before? Show me some pics. Then I'll see. But what I really mean in the anime style hing is mostly face structures. Like when rachel draws, she uses certain eyes. I have 2 I use a lot. and the nose shape and whether the mouth is completely across the face or on the side when you draw. forget the body for a sec and focus on facial expressions and faces.

You should notice that each of these pictures show different styles for drawing eyes, general style of shading, detail, colour pallettes used, body proportions, sharpness/roundness of curves, facial reature shapes, etc. I'm sure you will have noticed. these are all screen shots or official artwork for the series that i can verify since i've watched all but one of these. the last one i have not seen, and do not intend on watching, though I do know a bit of the background story and have caught glimpses of it's animation style.

yes its good that they all have different things like head shapes and stuff but like in anime # 2 I feel ive seen that same exact style in another anime or in other's drawings. In anime #1 you can definetly see the style if that person uses those eyes and head shapes. But like I noticed in our cartoons (or in other country's) we all have a certain way of drawing animals and people. You could probably see the syle difference if they drew animals because everybody seems to draw animals differently. But since anime wants to be "realistic" there isnt too much difference in the people. But being realistic doesnt necessarily mean you have much of a style either. If you draw a cat realistically, then another would look the same. That is, almost, depending on how well you draw and what you draw with. That doesnt mean Im calling it horrible or anything though.
I think its just me, along with the others who want to do art for a living who seem to have a problem with the general anime style. But that doesnt mean we hate it. I love Kimba, Dragon Ball Z, Hamtaro, sonic,....... but what I think ticked me off before was when people seem to like anime just because it is anime. There are people who say that the japanese shows are better than our shows and yes that is an opinion but even I dont say that american cartoons are better than Japanese cartoons. I mean there are some I choose over others like I would choose animaniacs over Naruto, but I would choose Dragon Ball Z over Rocko's Modern Life.
