Character Name:Alejandro (Jandro) Fernandez

Occupation: Alejandro's parents are wealthy, and they send him funds to help him keep his comfortable lifestyle. Although, he does attend group counseling for social anxiety at the mental health ward semi-weekly.
He’s basically a trust fund baby.

Super Power(s): Agility, 'Houdini' joints and spine (very lithe and flexible). He often uses mostly harmless, but colorful, disorienting explosives for his getaways. He’s capable of leaping across rooftops vastly set apart and can easily scale most of his urban environment.

If he's in a tight spot where his limbs have been bound, he can twist and even dislocate his joints to escape.

He can do magic and illusionary techniques, but doesn't rely on them thoroughly, at most he uses them to 'impress the fairer sex', like complicated card tricks or pulling flowers out of thin air. His most complicated trick can react a seemingly real doppelganger, but it only lasts for two minutes or less. It also requires preparation beforehand. These are not 'super powers' but instead a simply trained sleight of hand and smoke and mirrors.

Weakness(es): Removing his mask, dirtying his jacket or hair. He's also human, so he does have his limits. His obsession with making all of his actions beautiful can cause him to be reckless.
Masquerade also has a VERY LOW pain tolerance.

Primary Motive: Jandro admires art and all things beautiful, but it is not the reason he steals historic paintings. He becomes Masquerade because he believes it is the only way he can truly live/exist.

Personality:
As Alejandro, he is a very quiet, shy, and fragile man despite his athletic body. He views himself as a pathetic and useless waste, and finds it very difficult to connect to people and hold comfortable conversations. His core is a very emotional one, but still he often keeps his expressiveness to himself. In a nut shell, he lacks confidence immensely, and probably judges himself more harshly than anyone else.

Masquerade, however, is an entirely different story.
Alejandro invented the character as a way of abandoning himself and becoming something he saw as ‘better’. Masquerade was meant to be confident, dashing, and successful. He feels most alive when he dons the masque and flamboyant coat, easily adopting the personality that embodies Masquerade. Alejandro loves to impress, so most of his nights as Masquerade end with fireworks and colorful smoke (and occasionally confetti). In Alejandro’s mind…if Masquerade can’t do it, then no one can.

Alejandro firmly believes in the power of love and beauty, so Masquerade is not often inclined to violence unless he becomes very angered or frustrated.

A Brief History:
Alejandro was born and raised in his home country of Spain. His parents were concerned that he might have been autistic for a great part of his earlier life, but it just turned out that Alejandro was just an unbearably shy boy. His parents ushered him into sports, drama, and other activities that involved group interaction. Alejandro diverged from group sports (much to his father’s dislike) and instead focused upon floor acrobatics. Drama, however, was one of his strongest callings. His teachers noticed how easily he could adapt to new personalities, but were slightly concerned with how he insisted on covering his face to do so. He was also slightly infatuated by the elegant, but masculine art of the matadors, and the concept of illusions.

As Spain began to undergo political tension, Alejandro decided to move to the states. His parents supported the idea, and funded the move. It’s difficult to say when Masquerade was first born, because Alejandro always had inklings of what he desired to be. He might have been inspired by the Supers of the city to make Masquerade a tangible being. It is definite however, that he has lived with Masquerade to rely on for at least four years.

Currently, he lives in a reasonably sized house with his nanny, Carmen, who also traveled from Spain with him. She often acts as his counselor and mother figure. She’s also quite aware of the existence of Masquerade.

BONUS CHARACTER NOTES:
-Alejandro DOES NOT suffer from any sort of multi-personality disorder, in case of any of you understood it that way. He simply believes that he can literally become a different person when he puts on the mask.
- He's incredibly infatuated with Oleander
- He speaks with a heavy Spanish accent.
-His facial hair can vary when he is Jandro, he simply doesn't shave all of it off in the morning after a night as Masquerade. Masquerade, however, is very clean shaven.
-Masquerade is VERY LONG WINDED, it can get quite difficult to shut him up sometimes, especially if he starts talking about love.
