Haha, my inspiration for vector art came back suddenly! And look what we have here! Super Paper Mario fanart. Hey, you all knew it was coming...This is Count Bleck and his trusted assistant, Nastasia. The border is supposed to resemble the Dark Prognosticus, which is the ancient book of prophecies that the count keeps with him at all times. It contains all manner of horrible tales of future events, with its main focus being the impending destruction of all worlds, which seems destined to be carried out by Count Bleck himself. The count uses his fearful book as a guide, but there's also the Light Prognosticus, written to combat the dark forces of its rival book. It tells what the chosen heroes can do to save the universe.
I really, really, really like Count Bleck. Play the game and you'll see that he's more than just another crazy villain who just up and decided to destroy the world. No, there's much more to his character, and I really want to keep talking about him, but I don't want to spoil anything...
Nastasia is interesting too. She has super-hypnosis powers, and is the epitome of loyalty and devotion to the count, but is not always sure that his path is correct, and even tries to turn him off it at times...And I haven't even beaten the game yet, so who knows what surprises these characters still may hold...
Oh, and the inside of Count Bleck's cape is basically just like a hole that leads off into space... really awesome... and I decided to try something a bit new with that, obviously.
I felt that to capture the majesty and beauty of space, I should use an actual picture... so thanks, Hubble Space Telescope! And thanks to this site for the free image: [link] Man! I finished two whole artworks today! (Well technically it's now three in the morning and not the same day anymore, but... I still consider it the same day XD) I'm on a roll! INSPIRED!

Your description was spot-on, very few people I know who have played the game DON'T find him immensely charming.
I always thought the thing with the cape was too cool, I wish I could suck people into my jacket. xD
... Or at least have a cool pattern on it instead of blue and white pinstripe.

And to think, I did this while I was still only halfway through the game. At that time, I already really loved the game and its characters... but after playing through it all, and thinking about it in the following months, I came to adore and understand the characters even more.

The space photo still bothers me a bit. It's the best I could find, but really the space behind his cape is blue and not purple... so I might still go back and change it someday. The good thing about vector pieces is I never feel like I have to fully close the book on them. If I ever need to go back and change something, it's not too hard.

The art is good... but I just can't seem to get into the game. I'm at world three and I still feel nothing. I'll just take it slow I suppose.

Ah well, different games for different gamers I suppose. Myself, I haven't been so addicted to a game in ages. But still, if you aren't into it by now, I doubt something huge is going to come along and just make you love it. But who knows. Actually, in my case, with many games, there's a certain precise and definable point I reach where I stop thinking "this is an okay game" or "this is a pretty good game" and start thinking "this is a GREAT game." But SPM is one of the rare few that pulled me in from the start, so I guess it's sort of a hit-or-miss thing... you start out loving it and your love only grows, or you just don't feel it and you never really do...

Hmm... I've had that feeling for Resident Evil 4, Oblivion, Majora's Mask, and the original Paper Mario. The Paper Mario series has only gotten worse with every installment in my opinion.
Ironically I don't own the original any more, however I do own the other two.

Yeah, I don't own the original either, actually... only borrowed it from a friend... I hope it comes out on the VC one of these days.
And strangely, I feel the opposite, that the PM series has only gotten better. Well, I never could decide if I liked PM or PM2 more... I definitely think PM2 was a better game as far as the gameplay and stuff goes, but I have a special fondness for the original that kept me from ever saying I liked the sequel more... but I definitely think SPM is the best yet. Ah well, just my humble opinion XD

Haven't played Super Paper Mario yet, but I've heard nothing but good things about Count Bleck.
I really like this, I think it's something about the background. It's simple and fits the Paper Mario theme well, and borders Bleck giving him good composition and forcing all of the attention to him, where we want it. The only thing I'd critique is Nastasia, she just seems to be floating off to the side by herself without a real purpose.
Still I'm a fan of the technical skills you've implied and still love the whole picture.

Yeah, I didn't have anywhere else to put Nastasia, and I think she stands out all the more because her color scheme is so much different than that of the rest of the image. Still, I felt she should definitely be in this picture, and it would seem empty without her. Ah well, you can't have it perfectly I suppose XD

Nobody must be without this game! I would be tortured, TORTURED!!! Single. Greatest. Game. Ever. I loved it so much I couldn't put it down for two weeks... Well, I was stuck for a spell, but I picked it back up of course! I love Count Bleck too, his shrouding mystery is part of what kept me enchanted with the game indefinately and for all eternity I will never forget him!
Have you beaten the game yet? You must! You simply must! No Mario fan must be withheld the joys of this game! NO ONE!

Yes! This game is pure love!
I wouldn't call it the single greatest game ever (There are so many games dear to me that I couldn't pick an absolute favorite!) but it's definitely up there. Still, I know that for a gamer to find a game they can honestly call their favorite is a huge deal, and shows how much they truly love it. Obviously you feel that strong connection with this game, and I'm glad it brought such happiness into your life
I am VERY artistically inspired at this point, actually... I want to draw more SPM characters, but I'm not sure who to draw next. I know I want to draw Peach and Bowser's wedding scene eventually XD I'm not sure which direction my muse will take me in, but keep an eye out, for I'll have more fanart on the way...
And no, I haven't beaten it yet. I just got past World 6... well, supposing that's all there is to it, because it DID seem rather short. (Lots of fighting though.) It was so sad!

Ahem, sorry. My personal favorite thing to do while thinking about this game is to fanARTisize (That's fanart fantisize) about Bowser and Peach's relationship throughout the game. I guess I'm just a sucker for intended 'ships (If that's the right word) or somethin'... Oh well. I'd like to see that wedding picture, Really!
