Description Poor Mr. Fit. He runs, and runs, and runs, and he can never seem to burn off that pudge around the stomach. Meanwhile, all it takes is a matter of notes for Banjo to be tougher, faster, stronger!

...Life isn't fair.

I think the reason why he can't seem to burn off the pudge around his belly is probably because he is very well-rounded. This makes him very cute in my opinion.

Same here. I'm not fat, but I'm sure not in shape, and my stamina is absolutely awful

I think lots of people can relate to Mr. Fit: trying hard but coming up short... that's why I like the poor guy!

All the weight he lost came from his tail... somehow. It just disappeared

Cute comic. I love Mr. Fit's face in the first and last panels.

Yeah, I noticed that! I still want to draw him with a tail, because tails are awesome, I just decided not to in this comic because I was in a hurry

Or maybe he lost his tail in a tragic accident with a treadmill or exercise bike...

Thanks!

goombuster [2009-01-05 15:44:08 +0000 UTC]

it HAS to be a mental boost for banjo. I mean, look at Boggy! he's fat enough to be called Lord Fat, yet he owns a gym? no way he can properly train someone. or maybe THAT'S what the "hot stuff" DVD is for, eh?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

fluffycatgirl In reply to goombuster [2009-01-05 22:45:38 +0000 UTC]

Hmm. Maybe it IS all a mental thing. Like, whenever Banjo feels bad about himself, all he needs to do is go take a look at Boggy and he thinks, "Well, at least I'm not THAT out of shape!" which gives him such a huge confidence boost that his physical prowess actually improves!

Rare probably settled on Boggy to run the gym precisely because he is the most ironic character to do so.

more ironic would be grunty. in her original fat form. ask her broom. ( which was the best part of the boss battle, the car sounds still are hilarious )

Thank you!

It's from Nuts & Bolts, actually. Mr. Fit is always running around town, while Boggy runs a gym where you can increase Banjo's speed, stamina and strength simply by paying him the required amount of notes.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

fluffycatgirl In reply to popplenator [2009-01-05 22:59:54 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I did finish the game a few weeks back.

((Spoilers from this point on, if anyone happens to be reading this who hasn't beaten the game and doesn't want to hear it!))

I remember you told me about how you'd seen the final battle and didn't find it epic, but I hadn't gotten that far yet, so I couldn't respond. But now that I have, I can offer my opinion. Indeed, the final battle was decent in itself, but the atmosphere could have been much more epic. It was disappointing to have the final confrontation against Grunty in happy daytime Spiral Mountain! I mean, all the other Grunty challenges were at night, but they didn't even make the atmosphere a bit more intense or foreboding for the final one. Plus, as cool as the orchestrated Grunty theme is, we heard the same song for the final battle as we'd already been hearing for each of her several challenges throughout the game. Apparently a new song for the final battle was composed, however, and is on the disk, but it just doesn't play due to a glitch O_o

The ending wrapped up nicely, no big surprises (because I had already guessed Piddles was going to talk at some point), but it did leave room for an epic sequel in whichever gameplay direction (vehicles or traditional) that Rare decides to take it, perhaps constructed by Grunty herself. Jolly painting their house was the best part, though. XD Everything else was just kinda... well, it was just an ending. Ever since I heard news of the plot of N&B, I expected there to be a twist at the end... like LOG wasn't really all that he claimed to be, or that Grunty somehow usurps him at the end, but alas, that was not to be.

Overall, this game is really not epic. Compare it to BK, which was a grand fairy tale, and especially BT, which was a humorously darker fantasy, with dragons and death, higher stakes and a wider scope, and N&B is really not a grand adventure, it's just a game. A really fun, wonderful game that still pulls you right into that vibrant cartoony world, but I would not consider it epic in the least. It's got more of the tone of a spin-off than an adventure. I love Nuts & Bolts, and its spin-off tone is fine for a game riding on the waves of 8 years of pent-up nostalgia. But I do hope the next game is more epic, yes.

fluffycatgirl In reply to KingGiantess [2009-01-05 05:01:53 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it probably wouldn't be very smart to ride a bike around a bunch of narrow ledges on a magically floating mountain in the clouds. If he would have fallen off, he couldn't have claimed the title of "Most Unexpected Character to Return With a Major Role in the Next Banjo Game"! Instead he would claim the title of Dearly Departed.

Yeah, not to mention the whole jello castle! I'm sure that's why he got out of there and moved to Showdown Town, to avoid the temptations... if he ever really did live in CCL in the first place, and wasn't just visiting. I can't see anyone actually living there, except those Zubbas... I think it would make a person insane very quickly...

Yeah, I'm sure there was originally much more to the gym. Boggy's kids were confirmed to be in the game back in the summer, but when the game came out, turns out they actually weren't. I bet they each were supposed to run a mini-game or something inside the gym corresponding to one of the traits you could improve, but Rare couldn't pull it off in time. Now they're keeping the inflatable sheep company in the Cut For Deadlines Room.
