Description Cephalaspis (pronounced SEFF-ah-LASS-pis) means "head shield", which fits this genus of fish quite well. Although their heads was covered in armour these fish were jawless, and are assumed to have played a role similar to the modern catfish, feeding on small organisms on the bottom of freshwater streams. The head plate had three indentations, which could have housed sensory organs sensitive to vibrations or even primitive electric organs. They lived in Devonian Europe, and it is believed their head shield served to protect them from the carnivorous placoderms around at the time.

This little guy is about six and a half centimetres long, and like the original animals, completely toothless. Apart from his fins and the edges of his head shield he's pretty firm, so he won't squish if you pinch him. His fins can move if you wish to move them, and he does have limited movement in his tail. he can survive being dropped and you can hold him tightly without damaging him, but if you bend parts of him repeatedly or pull at him too hard the wire might snap, which isn't good for him.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy reading about them, I love researching them so I'm glad other people also like learning about them
Looking at it now I can see I've come a long way from where I was when I started, the things I'm doing now are a whole lot more complicated to make, even if they don't look that different. There's a lot more improvising in these ones XD

Oh I'm sure, I know hardly anything about beads and I can see how much you've improved. But yes learning about them from you is fun with your little bead examples

Thank you! The head of this one was quite a challenge to do, it doesn't look that hard but there's loads of wire in there.

Thank you! I hadn't noticed that, but it does look like that. When they fist found the head without the body they thought it might be a trilobite.

Easy to understand considering its appearance.
