Description
I was thinking that i needed something to compete with my previous atlas blasting furries pic, so I made this one as a sucessor. Its a 35 ton firestarter mech from battletech roasting up some fursuiters. The proper way to view this picture is to make fwoosh noises while laughing like a supervillian.Related content

in this case it would; the firestarter is equipped with a standard flame thrower which means an ignition source and something like napalm,Β all it takes is a core breach and enough of a leak of hydrogen from the fusion process and the entire mech can explode violently. It doesn'thave the safety systems of the Vulcan or the Hermes unfortunately.

hmmmm. that said, at least Stackapole did have the explosion explained in one of the Blood of Kerensky books, seeing as how he had Kai tell his future wife to rip out his Hatchetman's safety systems for the reactor.

if I recall right he did that so it'd set of petroglycerine charges set by then killed by clan elemental engineers. I really need to re-read that series. I think we can agree on one thing...Gray death carlyle getting cancer from being exposed to too many reactor explosions was ridiculous.

and I don't think him getting cancer is ridiculous. Fusion engines give off less radiation that fission, sure, but that doesn't mean they don't give off some. mean, hell, you can get radiation cancer from being X-rayed a certain number of times.

You are right on the explosives part, but wrong on the fusion reactor issue. The problem is a a lot of battletech novel writers didn't know at the time how fusion reactors worked. While I admit both fission and fusion reactions create what is called 'prompt radiation' the fact is that fusion produces a hell of a lot less of it (deuterium/tritium as fuel). The fact is though that the majority of fusion reaction methods don't produce radiation as a byproduct and it makes utterly no sense to put a vehicle on the battlefield that does in a galaxy with a technology level that allows fusion powered civilian cars. Chances are the Battletech fusion engines are running D-T fusion, which produces no radiation instead producing Helium-4.
As I said before, BT novel writers had no idea what they were talking about since they also got the details of how RADAR functions tremendously wrong too. Tragedy sells novels and killing a major character helps that so the facts got ignored.

I would use my time defending furries even though I am not one because I am not a vile human being who only cares about those who are exactly like himself. Because making art that glorifies or jokes about the murder of a specific group you don't agree with because that's "funny" or whatever, is really not cool. That and I know quite a few furries and have met many more at Anthrocon (As I live in Pittsburgh)and they are some of the coolest, most interesting people I've ever met.
But I guess I shouldn't bother arguing with imbeciles on the internet.
