I had come across an argument between a bunch of jocks on my way to starbucks. They were obviously in high school... or college, you can never really tell anymore.. and the one had a black eye and was claiming about how Self Defence for women was a bad thing, and blah blah blah.I really, REALLY wanted to say this to him, and I should have, because it was obvious he was trying to hurt the woman, and he got his ass handed to him. (I gauged this because they were talking about how many women they fucked when they were drunk at parties)
This goes for everyone. Seriously, don't whine because you were being an asshole. Women can be every much as badass as men can.
Which is why I stay out of the kitchen when my sister is cooking. She gets really violent D:

Why would anyone be against women's self defense? Oh that's right...chauvinists whose world was shattered when some chick stepped out of the "rule" that said men are supposed to be stronger than women. I can see being against women attacking men for no reason, but I'm guessing in the case you mentioned, that's not how it went.

It's really stupid how often this reaction towards women's self defence comes up. It's not always straight up, "Ah women should never fight." But it's amazing how many people will imply that women who take self defence classes are either paranoid or butch lesbians.
I almost want to laugh, because it seems like the people who have this reaction are the same people who will look at a rape victim and say, "Lol. Why didn't she just defend herself?"

Two of my cousins took self defence, and they're some of the girliest women I know. The older one even freaked out when she broke a nail in the class. It was like a scene from a chick flick, that's how girly she is.
