It is some time ago I became obsessed with the stories of Kusuriuri, or Medicine Seller if you wish to translate it. You can meet him if you watch Mononoke, or Bakeneko arc of the horror show Ayakashi. Please, do so, because the both of them are amazing and Medicine Seller's character is just... priceless. It's like if you combine L with Yumekui Kenbun.

Ever since then the idea of this picture has been haunting my mind and, when I finally succumbed, trying my skills quite hard. The main sketch has been finished well before May came around, but I found time to digitalize it and have some work done only recently.

And so, after ungodly amount of time, loads of sweets and unspeakable armies of reference pictures, I present thee the Kusuriuri bookmark. I'd like to dedicate it to two of my very good friends, Shiny-sempai and Skřetice (you'd translate it as something like Orcinda ) who I got personally addicted to Mononoke.

The things in the background are Zashikiwarashi (the dolls), and Ayakashi (the fishie), and both are forms of evil spirits. The very pretty and highly decorative weights are used by Medicine Seller to measure distance from mononoke. The thing in his hand is a sword of exorcism, which can be drawn only under very special conditions.
