Canon Digital Rebel XSi

3 shot HDR (-2, 0, +2)

Another shot from the sun halo/parhelia morning [link] Looking for a better vantage point than the urban valley of my street, I ran to the top of the hill by the middle school where there's a better view of the horizon. The view wasn't a whole lot better, but I managed to get a pretty good shot after climbing this large pile of snow. I set the camera to a self-timer, and ran up the hill to silhouette myself between the sun arcs. It took several attempts, but eventually the shot came out! If you look closely in this shot, you can see my wrists. I should have worn better gloves. I paid for that later.

Please tell me what you think!

It's created by ice particles blowing in the air

That's quite a victory, climbing up there with only one leg.
Lol.
Great shot!

Amazing shot!! The light is really cool here.

It's a pity that there's this rather unromantic "one way" sign... It really disturbes the atmosphere.
Could you try to cut it out or photoshop it? It'd make the picture perfect!

I suppose I could. I've got better shots without it, though

You should! The other shots are very nice too, but the person in here looks rather small, it makes the landscape look just overwhelming - until this sign catches the eye... >_<

Thank you!

How cold does it get there if you get frostburnt just from a few minutes of exposure? fairly cold I'm guessing, lol.

Great Photo though! Beautiful, keep 'em coming!

The actual air temperature was between 20 and 30 F below zero, but with the wind, it felt like 40+ below zero
Thank you!

Love the view-point, drawing the eye up the mound of snow, culminating at the top with the man in the halo of light. Cool effect!

Heh, I like this one. It's very pretty, but it's also funny 'cause the way you have your arms in the air makes me think you're saying "Woo! Snow! It's not going anywhere!"

That's what I was thinking at the time However, it stayed far too long. This snow pile just finished melting yesterday

I was out biking today. I found the remains of what had to be, at one time, a giant snow pile. It's 73 degrees and there's still a few drifts that are several feet deep out in the countryside

and I was impressed when the bottom of our snowman stayed for 3 days of +50 deg.
