Description Haven't submitted a big panorama in awhile, so here we go

This was taken during my Fall Colors Expeditionβ„’ last year from the deserts of Phoenix to the higher grounds of the San Francisco Peaks near Flagstaff, which are also frequently seen in the webcam image on my user page. The Peaks are in fact a dormant volcano (ergo the title, natch!)...rode the ski lift to the top (visible near the bottom-center) and according to my GPS, the altitude was around 11,300 feet! It was cool being near the highest spot in the entire state

The south rim of the Grand Canyon is slightly visible on the right, next to the sloping edge of the mountain, and for those familiar with the Flagstaff area, you might be able to spot the big NAU Skydome near the left side...somewhere down below is where Aspen Awe [link] was taken and looking at this now, after seeing Return of the King, the scattered trees sort of look like the huge troop formations that were seen from the top of Minas Tirith

Apologies for the lens flare...the sun was low in the sky and there was no way I was going to try to Photoshop it out

P.S. There's a nifty user-controllable webcam at [link] and it has presets for the San Francisco Peaks and NAU Skydome, so you can see just how high up that spot was

P.P.S. This should hopefully further help dispel the myth that Arizona is all desert, too

That is a sweeeeet picture. I don't know how you do these panoramas, but they're nifty.
I see The Sky Dome (*shudders* no more school!)... The Canyon... and Humphey's... And there's Sedona off in the distance
Cool panorama!

This is beautiful. It reminds me of west Texas near big bend. I went when i was a kid and it was so peaceful.

Oh! And i think the lense glare qives it character

Beautiful piece. Starting with the child on the left is a nice touch, with the title 'mount doom' and the bare, sun stricken land, i guess it was just the last thing id see first when i full viewed the pic :]. Really nice though, the brightness of the sky, and the amount of land that can be seen, it really makes me want to be there and see it for myself. Interesting colours and structures in their too, brilliant.

This is brilliant!
It's a marvellous scenery and composition with the ground sloping upwards to each side.
I also dig the fact that you incorporated/left the people in the picture as they give the viewer a sense of proportion and size.
Great job!
