It just happened! I don't know how! The doodles possessed me!Oooooor something like that... *shifty eyes*
Actually, I guess I have wanted to do a eh... family picture, for a while now. And since there is finally some color reference for the mama, might as well have been now, eh?
... Sometimes I think the polarization of my feelings regarding my own pictures is a bit worrying. Huum.

This makes me wonder what happened to Inutaisho and Inukimi's marriage. Since she had a distaste for humans and Inutaisho was compassionate about them that must have caused a rift in their marriage. I figured that Inukimi must have slaughtered a human village and it pissed Inutaisho off so much he left her and then meets Izayoi.

It is hard to tell, isn't it? It's kind of open to anybody's interpretation! My guess was that it was a political marriage. She seemed pretty comfy and content at her castle and didn't appear upset about having been left for a human woman. The fact that she said something along the lines of Sesshoumaru becoming like his father in the strangest ways is the big reason why I lean this way - she had apparently already made that connection before bringing Rin back to life, and she did not seem put out about it. I think if she had disliked humans, she would have been more irritated with Sesshoumaru watching over one and going to the lengths he did to try to save her. But that's just my read of things.

I think it was a political marriage to, of course I think Inutaisho wanted their marriage to work, and it was over centuries ago so who knows how Inukimi was before Inutaisho met Izayoi. She was probably vicious to humans and after Inutaisho's death maybe she started changing.

I really wish we could have gotten to know more about her than the snippet we saw - as you mentioned, her history is longer than what we get in the manga. Without more backstory, it's impossible to know what she was like and what actually happened in that marriage. But on the bright side, I guess that provides more opportunity for fan interpretation! Sometimes the flexibility is nice.

Well, it's hard to tell if they ever were a happy family or if it was just a politically arranged marriage... there isn't a lot in the canon about that whole situation. But sometimes it's fun to imagine it was at some point!

I dont know their story either, but since my fave character in inuyasha is sesshomaru so I love to imagined he had a lovely childhood memories with his parents. That's why canon or non canon, arranged or not, love or not, I still love imagined sessparents had a happily married life and I love your drawing here

I think that's a nice perspective to have of things. You are a much more benevolent fan than I am - I kind of enjoy when characters have had to go through all sorts of angst haha. But I can definitely see where you're coming from

I only got intersted in Sesshoumaru to begin with because I thought he was funny. <_< "Bahaha, he's trying to be all bad and whatnot while wearing that big poofy thing! *chortle*" From the amusement, I just progressed to finding him to be entertaining ... and then with all the stuff that he's done in the last year or so, I've decided that I can pretty much love his character. ^_^

Yeah, I never hated him... I don't think I hate anybody in the story because they all amuse me in some capacity, although I would get annoyed at times. Like with Naraku, since he's like a friggin broken record. It's just dull after a while. The nice thing about Sesshoumaru is that he's changed quite a bit but still retained his early characteristics, so it's pretty much awesome.
Hahaha, yeah, he's such a flippin hypocrite. He's all "Humans suck! ... But Rin doesn't count." O_o? Silly fellow.

-snigger- Yeah... you should do some sort of drawing of Naraku, similar to your Rin/Sessy one. I'm sure it would be amusing. But what's more frustrating than Nakaku being a broken record is the fact that he'd be dead right now if Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru had gotten over themselves. Grr. Yeah, but Sessy's getting better, kind of, while remaining within character.

I would have to do a Naraku one in a different manner, though, since I know NOTHING about the fanfics regarding him... and I am a little frightened about what I might find if I looked. 
I think Sesshy's getting much better. I mean, he had his whole emotional freakout (or what I would equate with a freakout on his scale) when Rin died again, and he actually went along with the whole thing about giving the hell circle attack *snicker* to Inuyasha, and in the recent ones where he's been helping Kagome and Inuyasha. It's an uber change from what a buttmunch he was the begin.
Aaah... it's all jolly good stuff. Hehehe.

Aaaaah yes, the almost deaths. Or things that aren't even almost deaths but SHOULD be almost deaths. Gosh, some of those made me laugh insanely much. It always amuses me when he manages to get down to being no more than a random head. So wtf.
Haha, noooo, these things aren't in the anime... they're only in the new nonsense goign on in the manga. If you're wanting to catch up, there is a very easy fix -- I have a link to a site that has scanlations for all the old volumes, and another that posts the new chapters as they are released every week. Well I'm glad that I did not cause any cardiac arrest, for that would have made me feel quite poorly. XD I think the anime covers the first 350-odd chapters... now it's getting close to 550.
