Let me just go on a little miniature rant here. But, before I start, let me get a few things straightened out.

You're a NaruSaku fan, good for you; you\'re Anti-NaruSaku, I don't care. I welcome healthy debate if your points are valid, but if you're going to be an idiot and come barging in here with some ignorant remark... That's a lol on you.

What was the point of Sakura's confession?
The point of Sakura's confession was to get Naruto to stop chasing after Sasuke and to stop hurting himself, to get him back home safely. Not:

To use him to get closer to Sasuke/in Sasuke's pants
Hurt his feelings
As a 'fuck you' to Hinata.

Sakura does not hate Hinata. She healed her and looked after her and cares for her just as she cares for everyone else in her life. She would have no reason to hurt her.

Likewise, Sakura would have no reason to purposely want to hurt Naruto's feelings. She's not part 1 Sakura anymore and cares about Naruto. If she hurts him, it is unintentionally, just as Naruto didn't mean to attack her in his kyuubified state. If you're anti-Sakura and I simply told you that Sakura is no longer the selfish little girl who would hurt Naruto just to get closer to Sasuke, then you wouldn't hear it, but I'm sorry, because it's true.

While Sakura was confessing, what was going through her mind?
Sakura originally set out to find Naruto to tell him to come home. She knew how much Sasuke meant to Naruto, so she knew it wouldn't be easy. What was the most effective method she could think of? Using Naruto's feelings for her to her advantage by confessing to him and convincing him to come home. Is that manipulative?

Manipulate v. To use something, such as knowledge you obtained, a physical item, or anything else that gives you an advantage over someone or something to trick someone into saying or doing a certain thing.
ex: She used his feelings for her to manipulate him into buying her something she wanted

Yes, what Sakura did was manipulative.

But here is where the point goes completely over peoples' heads;

Sakura didn't manipulate Naruto for her own gain. Instead, she tried to manipulate him for his own benefit and try to get him to stop pursuing Sasuke, which she knew was hurting him. She would gain nothing from tricking Naruto except to see him safe. And Sakura is called a liar for it, yet she is also a kunoichi, and people in her profession use lies and trickery. That's almost what being a kunoichi is. So, Sakura's a bad person for doing her job and looking out for her friend.

Before you decide to bash Sakura for lying to Naruto, consider this

Her Intention - Her intention was not selfish, as she would not have been directly benefited in any way. Her intention was to take a burden off of Naruto's back.

The following arguments are real arguments I've seen from Anti-Sakura/NS fans

Sakura knows how important to Naruto Sasuke is, why would she try to take that away from him?
Sakura wasn't trying to take Sasuke away from Naruto for any other reason than that she thought he was hurting Naruto and that he'd be better off without Sasuke. Just as a mother would want to seperate her easily-influenced child from his pot-smoking friend, Sakura wanted to keep Naruto safe, no matter how much Sasuke meant to Naruto, she felt he would be better off and, frankly, I agree.

Sakura knew Hinata had already confessed, why would she confess too?
Well, for starters, it's never directly stated that Sakura knows that Hinata confessed. All we have to go on is Neji asking something along the lines of 'why would she do that?' and Sakura thinking something like 'Hinata, you...' No, she doesn't say 'Hinata... Loves... Naruto.' For one, that's an incorrect translation anyways. She may have an idea that Hinata loves Naruto but knows nothing of the actual confession. So, no, Sakura didn't confess to spite Hinata, that is a stupid argument. Again, Sakura confessed, in the long run, for Naruto's safety, not to hurt the sweet, quiet girl she has no reason to hate.

Sakura was only trying to get closer to Sasuke
That's actually half-true. Sakura wanted to keep Naruto safe and bring him home, and she also wanted to get closer to Sasuke ... To kill him. For who? Partly for Sasuke to relieve him of his pain, a.k.a. by ending his life of crime and evil the person he no longer was, which Sakura is aware of. She said it herself, he wasn't the Sasuke they once knew, but mostly to relive Naruto's burden and the promise he had made to her.

I hope this has cleared up Sakura's intentions and shown you that she didn't do it for selfish purposes. Honestly, to assume something like this is understandable - if you didn't read the manga. But it's a pretty ignorant accusation coming from someone who does. But, of course, the second Sakura faulters, the bashers come out of the woodwork and have an orgy of hatred. But they're having this orgy in the dark, because there is no reason for them to celebrate when you actually look at it.

And, now, let me reiterate: Feel free to offer up your own points, for and against my points, so long as they're intelligent and make sense. No, 'Sakura sucks' is not intelligent, and since I'm so immature, I'll probably flame you back before deleting your comment.

It was selfish because Sakura did it to make herself feel better.
"I've seen people claim that it was self beneficial for Sakura because she was doing it to alleviate her own guilt - but if that's how they want to look at it then no character can really be considered selfless.

Why did Hinata jump in to help Naruto when Pein was about to capture him? Because she would feel horrible if she sat back and did nothing. Why did she confess? For her own peace of mind, not for Naruto's benefit.

Why is Naruto trying so hard to save Sasuke? Because he'll feel awful doing nothing from stopping a friend slowly destroy themselves.

Why do people help others? Because they'll feel bad/guilty if they don't. So that makes them horrible people apparently, according to about 90% of Naruto fans."
