Dedicated to ~PriestessOfNox ... I am so sorry I took such a long time to finally upload these
Oui, anyway, a bunch of doodles of Brainiac 5 as I'd imagine him 'IRL'. It should all be fairly clear in the drawings, but if you're wondering what the hell I was thinking at any point, feel free to ask
Design cues taken from his 'normal' and battle modes in both seasons of the cartoon, obviously factoring in the OMGWTF change to human!Brainy in the season 2 finale
Not so OMGWTF in my mind, since I share the same opinion as PriestessOfNox that Brainy was born organic and turned into a cyborg. I'm not sure what her thoughts are on why he turned human again in the series finale, but in my opinion it was because the Brainiac 1.0 programming was keeping him a robot because that way it had complete control over his mind once he was forced to tap into it. When Brainy erased Brainiac 1.0 from his mind, those firewalls dropped, and he reverted back to human mode. It's more complicated than that, obviously, but there's the jist of it

I've maybe only seen three or four episodes of Legion of Superheros, but Brainiac 5 was definitely one of my fave characters. Don't know what it was about him... He was just really adorable in his own special way, wasn't he? From what I've seen around DeviantART, he's a fan favourite, too. Does everyone have a secret robot fetish that they're not openly admitting to? Or is it the 'I want to be a REAL boy! 8D" complex that makes all the fangirls go D'awwwwwwwwww?
Anyways, as for the pic itself... *whistle* You have been getting so ridiculously awesome at robotics. The details of his body are so well done. The design is so articulate! He looks as if he could be as flexible as a circus performer with a design like that~ All the detail for the fingers and other joints is just so amazing looking. I don't know what it is about the top images of Brainy's hand, but I really, really like staring at it. It must be all the pretty detail you put into the joints. Not only does it look like a robotic hand, but it also looks like it will legitimately move ('cause you know there are robot pictures out there like look awesome, but they probably wouldn't be able to move in RL). The whole design is just so nicely put together. You can totally imagine a cybernetic body being built to look like this.
And not only is the body articulate, it's also very visually appealing.

Being the oddball definitely gives him points. The whole young thing I've never understood, but I guess there are other fangirls who are into the Sugar Mama thing.

I mean that if he's young, he's then closer to the actual ages of the fangirls who would like him for that, making him easier for them to picture themselves -- er, I mean, their original characters -- with.

My thoughts on why Brainy turned human? I think the creators just wanted to please rabid fans that were mad that they made him into an android to begin with and used the easiest solution they could think of.

The organic eye within the robotic 'eye' is both to show the placement of the screen that serves as his eye in robot mode (didn't B5 call them 'optical sensors' in that episode with Zyx?), and also that the screen and his eye are separate
Haha, Brainy's profile was originally just going to be a light sketch to show the indented Brainiac emblem on his forehead, but I got carried away ^_^
And the bottom of his foot needs attention! It is indeed where he has jet propulsion, so that needed a little bit of design love too!

Hmm, it's a little like Cyborg, except he was organic with metal bits; in my head, the Coluans are an allotropic race, meaning they're made of a compound that exists in both a metallic and an organic form (like carbon being both coal and diamond), and they go through a process that rearranges their molecules into the metallic lattice. June 23: Typewriter patented; Clark trying to work on his typewriter at the daily planet but Human!disguised Brainy is sitting on his desk flirting with him, distracting him from his work as Lois looks annoyed.
August: ELVIS WEEK! PLEASE! Draw Superman listening to Elvis music and dancing, picturing himself as Elvis with Brainy walking in on him! OR SOME VARIATION! But we MUST celebrate ELVIS WEEK!
