Let's just say that if you compare X/Y to Red/Blue, there's a difficulty gap.---
Red/Blue: On several occasions, symbolizes your rival coming out of nowhere to challenge/wreck you.
X/Y: On several occasions, symbolizes the delayable battles and heals on the spot.

Thats becuase since pokemon is a kids game,or made for little kids, they had to lower the difficulty so they could play through the game. I also noticed the difference when i replayed x and y with heartgold and soulsilver. Really big diff. I actually had to be careful of which pkmn i took with me, while in the newer games, i didnt even have to switch that much, and not even in my party too. But at least their story plot is gerting better :/

there really isn't that much of a difficulty gap. There is just a gap in your skill from when you played the first to when you played the most recent. I went back and played through blue since it was on the 3ds and pretty much walked right through the game.

I beg to differ. I've recently replayed Silver, and I felt way more challenged compared to X and Y

oh the new ones are definitely easier, but not so much as people keep claiming. they make it seem like the early games were like dark souls or somethings and the new ones are paint-by-numbers. Pokemon in general is rather easy once you know how to play a pokemon game, even gen 2. Your rival in gen 1 doesn't even jump out at you in bad places. There is almost always a healing spot before he shows up.

I always felt that there should be a difficulty mod where when you go to the elite 4 or w/e they have now for final tournaments, that all pokemon should be at the level of your highest level pokemon. Perhaps even boost stats or skills for a hell mode to be more strategic.Β

Er, wouldnt that actually give you an advantage? I mean if you have a level 40 pkmn (just an example) and a level 2 pkmn, then if we add in what you just said. Itd be 2 level 40 pkmn which would really be easy to defeat ppl with.

Well, the CPU should have their default levels so let's just say they average 79 is the highest level by default, but if you have your highest level pokemon at level 85, then all of the CPU's pokemon will be all evened out at lvl 85.Β

I have played difficulty mods as I described, for me it's a lot of fun. Β For some stupid reason I love having bird teams, I'm like that one gym leader xDΒ

For me, I actually kick out my starter pokemon after I catch my first pidgey for example Β because I feel the starter is too powerful.Β
