Description Secodontosaurus was a proto-mammal closely related to the more famous Dimetrodon. They lived during the early Permian, between 285 - 273 million years ago, in what today is Texas in North America. Secodontosaurs was very similar to dimetrodon but much smaller, about 2 meters long. Its most notable characteristic is its skull which is very crocodilian and suggest that  Secodontosaurus may be a fish eating synapsid.
