I joined a couple of miniatures clubs in my area this summer at the behest of some friends who were dollhouse enthusiasts. I can tell you the world of minis is a new and fascinating (sometimes frightfully expensive) place to me, but one I hope to explore more. At one meeting I was the winner of a quarter raffle (give a quarter for a chance to win a miniature item), which was nice, but it meant I had to supply the prize for the next raffle.

Halloween is one of the two big holiday themes in the miniatures world (the other being Christmas), and as I knew a lot of the ladies had spooky scenes to furnish, I put these together the night before the meeting.

The bottle is filled with hundreds of tiny candy corn and black and green jelly beans made of Sculpey. I am also a fan of the beautiful artwork and culture of the Mexican Day of the Dead, and so I put together a matching sugar skull. I made the form out of white Sculpey, and once baked I covered it in a layer of white glue and crystal clear embossing powder to look like sugar. Finally I used Souffle pens for the colored markings.

It was a fun project, and I think the recipient was happy.
