Description
Two old friends take different paths in life, until eventually these paths meet, and they wonder how things could end up this way.Took me forever xD Most ambitious drawing to date.

I feel that quote fits this scene perfectly. Spike is feeling like Twilight doesn't respect him enough, and Twilight is trying to get him to listen to her since she is always thinking that she knows everything and can't ever do or say anything wrong. Neither is good and neither is evil, imo.Β It's just a fight, a horrible fight as friends and family members often do.

Well time to make a story for this picture. After a while of studying dark magic, twilight becomes more moody and quiet though she still cares for her friends. Then one day in an accidental building destruction shining armor dies. Enraged twilight goes full on knight templar now wishing to rid the world of crime her own way. After stabbing luna,celestia,and cadence in the back for not regulating construction, she absorbs their power. When her friends try to stop the now alicorn powered twilight,they're cut down in a fit of misguided rage. In her sorrow twilight lets spike escape. Now the queen of equestria, twilight rules with an iron fist (punishment for cutting in line is death) so that not a shred of crime could ever happen. However while twilight is ruling,spike has been growing up while still remembering twilight's teachings. Spike now full grown and magical due to twilight's teachings comes back to challenge his "mother". After a brutal fight twilight is able to run spike through with her horn.Now heavily weakened spike plays his last card:attempting to remind twilight of who she is. Twilight continues to charge up her finisher and spike prepares one last dragon breath, hoping that he gets though to twilight

My interpretation: Twilight's duties to the State, and her own complete obsession to her duty and her own personal flaws ended up with her neglecting Spike; and at one point they both only communicated through letters and eventually, not at all. Spike; already feeling like a outsider as he's... Well, a Male Dragon in a Matriarchal society of magical talking Ponies, decided to pack his bags, said farewell to his old friends, and began to wander the world and Twilight didn't even notice.
Twilight eventually fell in love and gave birth to a son, who turned out to be a rather spoiled brat. And Spike... Was actually a pretty decent guy. He has been everywhere from the frozen Lands of the Penguins glorious city of Talon, the Capital of the Griffins. He has been at various points; a Whaler, a Writer, and even a Houscarl for the Jarl of the Bears as well as having many other careers, some being more successful than others.
However; one day Twilights spoiled, bratty, and cruel son, who was being groomed to be the new element of Magic, crossed paths with a young Zebra Spike was raising as a Apprentice. Twilight's son attempted to force himself upon the Zebra, but Spike stopped him and killed him in a fit of rage. Twilight appeared and... Well...
"You promised you wouldn't kill anypony!"
"And you promised you wouldn't leave me!"

Ah, that's a big point of this drawing. You don't know. I didn't intend for one of them to be obviously evil or bad in this. I merely present you with the situation and give you the opportunity to wonder, alongside Spike and Twilight, how did things turn out this way?

That's a way to view it. Personally, my own interpretation is that the paths they chose in life led both of them to this point of no return, but neither are happy things came to this. I imagine them addressing each other as "Old Friend" and reminiscing their old lives in between trading blows.

jokes aside now.... i don't know if i should like this picture because of the great style or feel sad because the two closest friends of the entire show are fighting a deathmatch. for now i decided to love this picture of pure emotions and put it in my favorites-list.
