Description
Pheonix had often heard tales of Jormungars, but never thought she would witness one, let alone befriend one!
Having tragically lost everything Phe was unsure how to keep going, she aimlessly wandered Azeroth eagerly looking for a renewed purpose in life. One day, her extensive travels inevitably brought her to the coldest part of Kalimdor, Winterspring. The hour was getting late, and this snow-covered terrain was unfamiliar to her. Pheonix discovered a nearby cave and instantly decided it best to shelter there for the frigid evening. Little did she realize, the cavern was already home to a creature not known for being native to these lands.
Despite the cave being pitch black, Pheonixx's exceptional Worgen eyesight permitted her to carefully examine the bleak surroundings. Towards the back of the cave was a curled figure, the creature's scent was unfamiliar. However, Phe's keen sense of smell did accurately detect an unmistakable hint of blood in the raw air. Was this unknown creature injured? She sniffed the air again; a whiff of infection hit her nose. At that key moment, Pheonix was instantly filled with a renewed sense of purpose. Whatever this wounded creature was, it needed her help.
First Pheonix had to try and approach the creature, would it lash out at her? That was a risk she was willing to undertake. As she got closer, the beast gradually rose its head. Phe could instantly identify clearly what the beast was, a white Jormungar and a young one at that! The Jormungar lowered its head once more and let out a pathetic whimper, it was evident that the creature's will to live was fading. This became even more apparent when Pheonixx placed her hand on the body of the giant worm and it didn't actually attempt to defend itself.
Even if her efforts didn't pay off, Phe was bound and determined to attempt and save the life of this wormy beast. Pheonix would devote the next several days and sleepless nights, tirelessly tending to the terrible wounds of the young worm. She even went as far as to force-feed the unfortunate creature so that it could regain some much-needed strength. Gradually the creature's energy started returning however, Phe began to consider how the beast would react once healed. Ultimately, she wouldn't let this thought deter her from doing the right thing.
At long last, one evening, exhausted Phe collapsed and drifted into a deep sleep. Pheonix slumbered for what felt like days and likely would have continued to sleep if she had not been awoken by something nudging at her. Pheonix began opening her eyes and was greeted by the face of a drooling tongue-wagging Jormungar. In alarm, she jumped nervously to her feet only to be pounced on and knocked to the ground by the young worm, who started smearing her face with many slobbery wet wormy kisses, much like a puppy dog. This behavior was both shocking, yet welcomed by Pheonix as it was obvious the worm was thankful to have been saved.
Pheonix promptly decided to name the young Jormungar, even if they would eventually go their separate ways. “I will call you Mudwiggle,” she said. In what Pheonix assumed was excitement, Mudwiggle spit a glob of green goo in her face. The two have been inseparable ever since. Not only that, but Phe discovered a much-needed reason to keep going.
Very few Hunters throughout Azeroth's history have been known to successfully tame a Jormungar, let alone befriend one. Pheonixxfoxx would ultimately be known to many as not only the Mother of Jormungars but the Tamer of Beasts!
Fun fact about the actual in-game tame, “The Deep Tunneler” (as the rare mob in Winterspring is known) went to attack during the taming process but froze. After the taming was complete and the hearts went out, whatever bug happened unfroze. My in-game Hunter, Pheonixxfoxx was then showered with a wad of goo right in her face.
I had the pleasure to work on this piece for the wonderful PheonixxFoxx as a Patreon reward! I really enjoyed this piece, combining two characters in this way was new and challenging, but most satisfying. I hope you like the final result!
Thank you for your support
