Description This is a portrait of Master P.

I drew this for a classical rendering class I had at SCAD. In this class you had to mimmick master techniques and copy their works. Sadly I have no idea who drew this, nor what the piece is called. It was rendered completely in soft pastel and completed in one painful and mind warping sitting.

i think you did an excellent job! ive seen a few more traditional renderings as such, but yours is phenomenal! you have the varying plains of changing color on her cheeks and around her eyes... the hair, the curls and even the roundness of a style created in europe

in fact i see this almost completely un-tainted by anime (not that anime is a bad thing, but as i said earlier, if you draw anime it tends to show in work) which is an amazing feat, and a true sign that the artist is more than a run of the mill artist, but one who can accomplish many things!

and pastels no less

the only thing i see that sticks out i the lips... they have the sharpness of eastern style... i havent see the original, but i would assume they were a bit softer

but that aside, this is great!

This is beautiful! I'm a total noob at soft pastels. What surface did you use for this? Also, what brand of soft pastels did you use to create it?

I'm pretty sure I used Rembrandt and some heavy weight paper with a very slight texture to it to accept the pastel better.

It's gorgeous! If you don't know still it's Jean-Baptiste Perroneau's Girl with a Cat (Portrait of Mlle. Huquier). I recognised it as soon as I saw it, its a really excellent copy, you've got 18th century style right down

My gosh, I really hope I get to do stuff like this in the art degree I'm starting. I am in LOVE with 18th/19th century portraiture, they could make the ugliest of noblewomen/men glow with beauty!

This is such a lovely rendition, pastel would have been the LAST medium to pop into my head if I was given this task, yet you've pulled it off so beautifully

I like it, its painted beautifully. I did one for Color and Design class where you mimic the Artist style but pick your own images to do it with.

I know you didn't go and BUY all those pastels!!!? You must be colored.

Cuz you know, we colored folk shit that stuff man. Eat the pig and crap the pigment. I had to flush a box of Crayolas this mornin, you know, the 24's with the silver and gold. Kinda sad, but you know, only the good stuff sticks.

WTF am I saying?!
