Description After three days of sitting at home the weather finally cleared enough this afternoon to make a quick local trip out worthwhile. Unfortunately, Mildenhall didn't quite agree so it took a long time for the clag to clear here, and they were working runway 11, which isn't the best, plus also not a lot was happening. About the only highlight was 'NATO 34' coming in for some instrument and visual approach work. Although using a NATO callsign, the aircraft was actually a RAF E-3D, currently operating from RAF Coningsby (which I hope to visit tomorrow) whilst it's own base at nearby Waddington has it's runway resurfaced. A few interesting points, E-3D ZH107 was not only the final E-3 delivered to the RAF it was also the final E-3/707 variant built for anybody. The Travis C-17 behind came in earlier, and for some daft reason used the other end with a tail wind whilst I was at the 11 end. Also by sheer chance caught 'Dozer 31' flight of two F-15C's from the 493rd FS on the visual circuit for 06 over at Lakenheath.
