The origin story was a 2008 video by Sessur, in which Jeff is stated as older, as Jeff and Liu are based on himself and his younger brother. Jeff is older according to their own creator.

In the original creepypasta of Jeff the killer., Jeff was 13 when he became a killer and Liu was 12 years old when he died. Homicidal Liu is a separate creepypasta in which Jeff was 18 and Liu was 17, and survived the attack. The artist just mixed both stories together.
