Description

Emperor Guillotine was the final opponent of Unicorn and Giant Robo face in the Giant Robo TV series Finale, The End of Emperor Guillotine".

Note: While Ganmons, Ikagerus and Icelar are featured in the final episode, this entire article is dedicated only for Emperor Guillotine. By this point, the second half of the series Kaiju that Robo faced before were been reused after Unbalar – which is a major flaw of Giant Robo; Now generally, in these type of shows, you get a monster comeback, but is often limited to one episode monster team up against the main hero and not to the point its half of the series.

I spent the day before drawing the Guillotine sketch wondering whether to add those three into the final pic as some of their scenes use recycle stock footage (and they were drawn into the actual sketch) but in the end I chose to not worked them into the complete work. Critically, the final Episode, meant to be a send off for Robo, is a rush thing, with little cohesion, quite frankly weak acting, and of course, the sin of stock footage. So I will named them for purposes of the info dumped on the final confrontation.

Appearance and Abilities: Guillotine is a Chthulu like humanoid Seijin, with a big blue head with black skin on the side and black tendrils running from the side and around, covering the neck; a red bright jewel was encrusted on his forehead, and sport mandibles for a mouth; its hands were black with 3 digits ending in claws (a feature which he shared with Dr. Over, another alien – possibly both are variant of the same species). He dressed in a Gold and Black patterns suit, sporting a Golden Cape, Boots and Gauntlets, with a Black Belt adorn with Gold diamond shapes. At all times, he seen with his Staff of Command in hand, which it was Red and Silver, with a white sphere on top.

Guillotine, despite having a Physical form, his body is in fact a mass of Atomic Energy itself; this allows him to fire rays from his hands – as seen in Dr. Over's Execution – or to grow to giant Size. He can tear up one of his claws and throws it, exploding on impact.

Weakness: In many ways, its his own Atomic Energy. Physically attacking him can cause a chain reaction that would destroy Earth along with him, therefor Robo takes Guillotine into Space and flies straight towards an incoming Meteor, where he is dispatch on Impact.

Which leads to a very poignant question; How the fuck did this Bastard Conquered anything without putting himself at risk with such an ineffectual force before coming to Earth?

Overall Info and Fate

Emperor Guillotine was the Principle Antagonist and force behind the Big Fire Organization (or the Gargoyle Organization in the U.S. Dub) who only appeared in the original Giant Robo Tokusatsu TV Series, which diverts from the original source material; in the Manga Version, the organization was operated by Influential Humans with considerable abilities, which is adapted to the OVA in the 2000's.

An Invader originated from the Ends of the Universe, Guillotine came to Earth with his Army to added it to its Conquests, finding many Humans to help him his goal. Despite been a powerful creature, Guillotine leaves the day to day operations of Big Fire across the world to his the Various Commanders under him while he stays on his ship, doing terror attacks or influencing corrupt governments, while having an Army of Monster at their disposal; among those Monsters was GR-1 - Giant Robo himself – who was intended to be the first in a line of Giant Robots at his command before Daisaku took the Robot and use it to protect the Earth with the Unicorn Agency.

Ever since losing Robo, Guillotine and his men tried to come up with schemes to destroy or recapture and reprogram Robo while battling Daisaku and Unicorn, which end in failure, much to his ire and frustration, which only grown in number and consistency, he eventually began punishment when the commanders failed – indeed Black Diamond and Dr. Over were executed at his hands for their continual failure. Though most died at the hands of Unicorn, or their own Monsters.

By the final episode, and with the entirety of the Big Fire Command structure decimated – with Mr. Gold been the only to still be alive and in prison - Guillotine takes command in a plot to kill Daisaku, tricking Unicorn to follow a signal to an abandon location where his Sniper Commander would dispatch the Boy. Though he comes to find out he was tricked by Unicorn after the 2nd attempt to kill him failed, Guillotine sends Ganmons 2 to finish the job, as Daisaku hide in the trunk of the Sniper Commander's car, trying to get rid of the boy for good and punishing another commander for his failure – though the latter falls to his death trying to escape from his execution, as Robo comes in saves the Boy on time.

Robo then faces and quickly dispatches Ganmons, in a really chopped down stock footage of their previous Battle.

The two take off when Guillotine's ship comes to attack; after giving them the slip with a smokescreen cover, they come to a mountain full of heavily armed BF Soldiers shooting at them – Daisaku reports to Azuma, as he and the rest of Unicorn follow from the ground. They gather on the site just as Icelar and Ikagerus emerge to battle; Robo faces the two Kaiju off screen while Unicorn takes the battle against the BF stronghold.

Needless to say, that the presence of these two is so superfluousness that we don't even get to see how Robo dispatches them; by then he just has taken them out with a barrage of Finger Missiles (ALLEGEDLY), then the Big Guy comes around and points his weaponry at the whole BF Army; Naturally they start to surrender, when Guillotine's Spaceship emerges from the side of the Mountain, though Robo blows it up before it can take off. However, Guillotine still emerges from the smoldering wreck now as a Giant himself, and at the worst possible time, Robo shuts down having spent his Power on so many battles. Unicorn attempts to shoot him down, but the Emperor warns them of his Atomic Energy composition with in his Body, showing it by ripping a claw and throwing it onto the mountain, exploding on impact. Fearing this would be Earth's fate, the heroes get now surrounded and disarmed by BF soldiers when Robo comes to life once more with the help of Auxilary Power back up, then faces Guillotine, seemingly having heard everything, cause this Boy is not dumb.

As the tide turns in Unicorn's favor, taking down the BF Soldiers, Robo battles the Emperor, despite Daisaku and Guillotine trying to reason with him of the risks involved; In an act to protect Daisaku, his Unicorn allies and Earth, Robo grabs hold of Guillotine and takes off into space, where he, in Noble Sacrifice, plunges onto a Meteor, the blast destroying Guillotine and Robo, and putting an end to Big Fire's campaign for conquest for good.

Looking to the glare in the sky, Unicorn and a tearful Daisaku give a final salute of respect to the fallen Heroic and Noble Giant Robo, thus concluding the Series.

And thus, another Roster folded up. I will be taking a break of Kaiju for a month - next will be Specterman's Roster of Monster and I'll be re watching the series to reallocate with its Kaiju once more and processing it into the file as much as possible before starting this batch.
