Description I designed this march 5th (2007) during my India history class, cause the teacher has a tendency to go off topic.

I had oriental/middle eastern carpets in mind when I was doodling, and also some black and grey tribal embroidery I've seen somewhere (but I don't remember which culture).

Made in peyote with black and translucent rainbow grey Delicas. It took about 7 1/2 hours to make.

Very nice. I love the patterning and how it has a 3D layered look.

That is a really nice design. I bet that took a little while to get a perfect symmetry.

Thanks!

Actually, I designed the one side and then justed flipped it over to get the 2 matching sides.

Is it peyote stitch? I love working with seed beads!

I was looking at your other bracelet you designed during a history class, and my first thought was of some early civilization, like the Indus river valley Nice to find out it was actually designed during an India history class!

This is a wonderful design. Do you make the patterns on graph paper first, or somehow else?

It is peyote stitch...one of the only ones, since I usually work with square stitch. I've made graphs for both stitches in Paint, so I could take into account the fact that seed beads aren't exactly square. I usually keep a couple sheets of each in my notebook so that I can doodle when I get ideas (or when the teacher wanders away from the lecture...)

I'm glad it reminded you of ancient civilizations...that was my aim, although I wasn't quite sure which one.

Wow... I'm way late.
Sorry!
Been cleaning! (Sad to say it is NOT spring cleaning either.)
Lol.
Anywho, COOL! It looks similar to a design that we have on a rolled up persian.

No prob about the slowness. Hmmm...I'd love to see that design you're talking about.

Thanks!

I don't have any more of this particular design right now, cause I only designed it last week, but I'm thinking of doing a purple version, and maybe one in contrasting colors (like gold and purple or cobalt)... I'm not sure yet.

It took about 7 1/2 hours, which I spread out over three days.

Cool. I am guessing the rainbow grey delicas have a bit of iridescence to them?

Thanks!

yeah, they have a aurora borealis finish (named after the natural phenmenom) on them. The finish is a little rough, so it's not a strong color change, just enough to make them more fun.
