Description ~3 hrs: Messing around with painting landscapes.

Self-critique:
From working on this piece, I've come to understand I need help with using colors. It's very monotone : ( But, I think the illumination of the landscape is pretty good. Any help or critiques are welcome. Thanks.

great work dude!
it is very monotone but i like it! if you did want to bring in some lighting i would suggest playing around with lighting effects.

duplicate your final piece then go filter > render > lighting effects and just have a play with the settings, it really adds to the atmosphere and feel. oh yeah, you might wanna play with opacity and layer styles when done with the lighting effect.

Hey, I appreciate the critique.

There's actually a ton I could do with this piece. You've planted a creative seed in my brain to revisit this and make something more of it.

Oh, and wow, that lighting effect filter is totally cheating. I've been wondering how some artists pull that effect off so quickly. I'll have to use this to my advantage now

Layer styles I've been aware of though, just not before creating this landscape.

Thanks for the tips!

no problem dude.

hmm.. i would probably go and do another mountain scape i were you. its good practice!

lol, yeah tis a a bit.. you can achieve a similar effect by using an airbrush with an overlay layer but i normally use a combo. i'm mainly into speedpainting so it all about using whatever technique i can to get a decent end result with minimal time. texture use helps a lot too.

no worries dude, i'll look out for your future works!
