Thanks. Unfortunately the passion plant did not make it so I no longer have it in my backyard. We had a flooding problem when folks were building next door last year and by the time the problem was resolved, it was too late for it.

Beautiful pic! Not preaching...but you said you cut it back because of some insect. The Passiflora is the ONLY host plant for the Gulf Fritillary butterfly. Were those Gulf Fritillary caterpillars that were eating it? If the larvae aren't allowed to live to maturity, no more beautiful Gulf Fritillaries. Very strong plants...a few cats will not harm it or stop it from blooming. Just wondering as I love butterflies and grow Passiflora for G. F. larvae. And they still bloom! If you alredy knew this, please disregard.

No it didn't have any caterpillars this year. One year they ate every single leaf off the whole vine but it survived. It was hard to make it grow up around the tree it is planted next to and the vine had just grown into a large uncontrollable ball laying on the ground so I cut it back and hope to manage it better when it starts to grow again. Since you grow them, any suggestions?

Since it attaches by tendrils I would think it would be hard to attach to a tree. Its stems do not twist and grow around like a some vines. Small tendrils grab onto stems, fencing, trellis etc. So maybe having different support would help. Also if it is at the base of a tree it is fightng the tree for nutrients, water, sun etc. The tree will usually wins. So move it and give it something it can grab onto with the tendrils. Just some suggestions...

I have tried to answer this three times and it won't go through. Maybe #4 will be magic. I have the plant in a pot so it is easy to move. I do think it does need some new soil so maybe now is the time to find it a permanent home. The tree is really a 5 ft stump I left up for the woodpeckers. I will definately find a trellis for it. I know my clematis loves the one it has. Thanks for the suggestions!

Glad you like it and thanks for the fav. I cut the vine back because it had gotten out of control so I'm hoping it comes back next year.

It is very unusual. I had to cut it all the way back due to some kind of a bug so I hope it comes back next year. Thanks so much for the

Thanks for your comments and the This one was a little tricky because the evening sun was shining directly on the butterfly and the flower was in the shade.
