So sorry for your loss. It is hard to lose a pet at such a young age.

There is an old guy at the shelter that I took a photo of yesterday. He is 10 years old and overweight but so sweet.

I wish that people would stop calling Chihuahuas demon dogs or devil dogs or evil. Not all Chihuahuas are mean, and LOTS of them are sweeter than sugar! They will sometimes get aggressive, but sometimes they'll do that to protect others.

I agree. We see a lot of very nice Chihuahuas at the shelter. Unfortunately they often end up there because there are some folks who want to make a quick buck and breed the small dogs. Then they sell them as puppies to others who do not know a lot about the breed.

Yeah. It's sad that people sell their pets for quick money. I can understand that if they seriously needed the money, but it's just wrong to do that for pleasure.

I hope she wasn't sick or hurt when she was up for adoption! I don't think she was because she looks like a healthy dog. I can't stand seeing sick or abused animals because I love animals so much!

Awww I want to take him/her home and snuggle together! It's a good job I am a long way away from there - I have three already and cant handle any more in reality! x

Yes I can see they would be - so appealing - it is the bigger older dogs that dont go isnt it and I must admit I can only cope with small dogs myself - and having multi dogs I tend to stick with ones that dont moult like rescue poodles and yorkies too - there are always a lot of big dogs whenever I look in kennels x

Fortunately around here, labs are still very popular as well as some other larger dogs like the German Shepards but it usually takes longer to place them. Once they are over 6 years old, it becomes even harder but we have a Senior for Senior Program that makes them more affordable for Seniors to adopt. Pet ownership now is still expensive as the cost of vet care and meds go up.

A friend of mine takes the seniors and she maybe only has them for a year or two but they are lovely - it's a good idea x
