"'No magic in this world?' I'm slowly and painfully turning into a freaking puppet, how can there be 'no magic in this world?'"
I suppose August did think he'd be able to take control of Mr. Gold with the dagger... Still, it was a pretty big risk.
I'm not sure what to think of August. What he did to Mr Gold was very cruel. But Rumplestiltskin wasn't exactly a person lacking in the cruelty department himself. He abandoned baby Emma (and in so doing that abandoned Gepetto and Jiminy and all of Fairytale) and didn't come to try to fix things until he started turning into a puppet. But the responsibility of taking care of a baby shouldn't have been forced on him.

Indeed, and while I admit he was thrown into a very very crappy situation for a child, he should had at least looked her up when he was older, not when he was suddenly hit with the permeation that Emma had found storybrooke on her own and that he was finally was starting to suffer from the withdraw of magick.

Yeah... But the fact that he willingly left her to begin with... Aside from the fact that he was leaving Emma to face the future alone, he KNEW that Emma was his only way to save his father and Fairytale from the Curse. While the responsibility shouldn't have been put on him, put on him it was.
I wonder how he knew about Baelfire... and Rumplestiltskin's knife...

The blue fairy, remember? She is probably one of the very few people who know about Rumplestiltskin's beginnings. She probably the one that gave him the needed information for his little plan to control th edark one.

Hm... that would have explained his "a little fairy" explination. But if it was Blue, I wonder when she would have had the time to tell him? She forgot everything when she came to Storybrooke, right? So she would have had to tell little Pinocchio about Baelfire and the knife. And why would she tell that sort of secret to a little kid?
I wonder who he was talking to on the phone? Could that have been the one who told him about the knife and Baelfire?
AGH Fall will not come quickly enough.

The blue fairy mention she and the other fairies had to do several perparions for the oncomming curse. Its like one of her agendas to make sure she didn't forget. Also, remember, August has been in storybrooke for some time before the whole knife thing happen, its likely that the blue fairy filled him(as I say, its likely she made herself be able to remember or have a trigger to remember like Mr. Gold did)

That's possible.
My personal theory is that the final preparations were to make what became Henry's storybook, and that the reason August knows about Baelfire and Rumplstiltskin's knife is because he's in league with the real Baelfire.

I really REALLY love both of them, so The Return was really hard on me because I felt really bad for Mr. Gold because of what August did to him. Then I felt really bad for August because Mr. Gold could have killed him right there, and he said he was dying. (At which point I gave a small little gasp and was all, "Noooo. August, y u no live? You have to survive, k? Survive at least until next season. LISTEN TO MEEEEEE." Disappointment followed after the finale.)

Yes, they both have their own charms. As far as august dying, well, there still the chance of him being brought back to life.

although I was disappointing that August was not actually Rumple's son, (because that would have been really cool and awesome) I still really like August. I always have

Thank you for the fav
I have to admit that my liking of August diminish a bit after The Return, not just because his actions were just cruel, but because they were plain stupid. I can understand that he has a lot on his plate, trying to stay alive, but you have to be pretty stupid to go with such a dumb ass plan against Mr. Gold.

I suppose. and Yeah I agree that his plan was not all the way thought through. But think about it,the poor man is desperate. By the time he convinced Emma that everything Henry was talking about is real, it may be too late for him. He was sort of thinking on the spot as well.
As for his pretending to be Rumple's son, I don't believe August expected Mr. Gold to come to him, thinking he was his son at all. If the man you were trying to secretly attack/ steal from came to you with open arms, claiming you were his child, would you not take the opportunity? He was put on the spot so to speak. There is no way August could say no. If he did, Mr. Gold would begin to suspect his intentions after catching him in his office and all.
But these are all just my thoughts. This is why I'm excited for the next episode to actually learn more about August and his background and reasons behind his actions.
