Second in the Swiss Alpine series, this is Bachalpsee above Grindelwald. It's hard to imagine that the place was warm when I hiked there about the same time last summer.Related content

Wow, this was taken this summer? That's weird, cause last year I was in Switzerland from june to july, and I went to a few mountains (near the glacier) and there was just a tiny bit of snow. It was actually my first time seeing snow, poor me

Exactly what I thought when I was there, especially since it looked like this almost exactly a year ago when I was hiking there: [link] So much for global warming in this place. (But, in truth, the large glaciers in the Swiss Alps are receding at a remarkable rate. I've been going to this area around Interlaken since 1974, and the changes are all too obvious.)

It's winter down here in Australia at the moment, and it's also school holidays, so a fair amount of my friends have traveled away to the mountains for snow. Thought you'd like to know that
