Yes, I did go to Constance (and I'm not sure of the spelling either) I have sometimes taken the ferry over to Ravensburg where I have relatives an what the Germans call the Bodensee.

been there too...........i remember the gateway to the sea. When i was over there it was bdc (before digital camera) so all my pictures are on paper. I really should take time to transfer them to the computer. So u r german too? My family and I come from amberg (bavaria).

My claims to being German are limited: a German mother, lots of German relatives, and one summer of studying German in Prien-am-Chiemsee in Bayern. Oh, and six months as a visiting professor at the University of Tuebingen. (And sorry about the lack of umlauts here.) Also...Deutsch fehlt mir...oder so sage ich immer. Trotzdem, verstehe ich fast alles. Es gibt aber sehr wenige Gelegenheiten Deutsch in Sued Kaliforien zu hoeren oder sprechen. But I get back to Europe fairly often. I'll be in Italy in May, and in France and Switzerland again in June.

not to many germans where u live right? I dont practice at all and when I call the relatives in germany, we laugh a lot at my german that is. My mother was told never to speak german to me so i could learn the english language along with her. My gosh i havent been to germany in 10 years. I just talked to everybody and luckly a lot of germans now speak english ( as good as my german ) U are very lucky to be able to travel like that, a lot of people have yet to leave there little cities they were born in. We are a lucky group that has seen part of the world.

You're right about the good fortune of being able to see the world. I was counting the other day and concluded that Cambodia is my 40th county. That seems like a lot until one realizes that there are about 210 recognized nations on the planet. I have a lot to go. The trouble is that I keep going back to the same ones. And a person really has to want to go places like Burma.

40 countries..........and your still young so u can manage the rest easily. We all have our favorites, we continue to go to them because i think they have a special place in our hearts. Whenever i went over we always ended up on st gilgen (my uncles favorite) i even knew the way home blindfolded. One time i went over we took a quick trip over to england from holland ( by ferry) just for the nite. That was a waste all i managed to get a picture of was a boobie. If i had the money id like to try the book 1000 places to go before i die. Wouldnt that be interesting.?
