Here's my last minute Twilight Princess Link costume. ^^ The shield needs more work, the sword got a bit roughed up due to my scabbard being violent with it. and my tunic and hat were made the night before we left... But overall I like it.The pouches (which cant be seen in this picture were sewn at 's and my art table (behind me) and the bird on the shield was drawn by albinoshadow, and painted by me at the table. ^^ I'll take more pictures later, when I'm not lazy about it. And hopefully I finish this one and get the magic armor out on the floor by youmacon. *takes breath*
This picture was taken on Sunday as we were setting up our art table.

What did you make your shield out of? I was thinking of using leftover foam from my Master Sword, but I might have my dad cut one out of wood. This is my first convention and it happens to be Youmacon. Is it pretty cool?

Well there is Colossalcon in Cleveland OH, which isn't all that far. ^^ Just be careful what kind of wood. Balsa is as light as foam, but smoother and stronger, but it can dent just as easily if not used properly. Wood itself can be quite heavy.

Thanks! I'll ask my dad about that kinda stuff. He builds houses and all that jazz, so he'll know. I've heard of Colossalcon and Ohayocon (sp?), but I didn't know they were so close!

Balsa wood is not used for construction, its normally used for making model airplanes, and you can usually get it at JoAnns and other hobby and craft stores. As for Cons, Ohayoucon is about 4 hours from Ann Arbor, and ColossalCon about 3. The next closest I can think of that would be worth going to would be Acen in Chicago. Which is also about 4 hours from Ann Arbor. Youmacon is the shortest drive from Ann Arbor. ^^ I wish you luck with your costume and beware, Balsa breaks easy if not properly reinforced.

Thanks. I think I've broken balsa wood a few times before. I remember my dad recommending it for a kite a long time ago, but it broke. Acen in Chicago, huh? I was just in Chinatown in Chicago this summer. I think I live about six hours away. That would definitely mean staying the night. I'll have to look those up. Thanks again!

Sorry, it was kind of a "that looks about right" thing. ^^ The material was the same, its smooth and a bit stretchy. Not quite sure what it is though. >_<

I'm going to try to cosplay as Link next year...Windwaker version that is.
Cuz me and my friend are going to Animarathon and we are going to have a skit where Dark Link is a therapist and regular Link has to talk about his problems about the piggies in his home island.
Its odd.
What do you get when you mix two friends, randomness, and a Zelda game?
Skits. We've come up with some odd ones while playing Zelda games.
Hopefully me and my friend can pull off looking like Link.
And one year I'm gonna go as Shaggy from Scooby-Doo.

Well, all of the Link cosplayers talk...so why not make Link talk in the skit? Haha.
Its sort of hard to do a skit where you have to have Link talk and he isn't going to talk.
So me and my friend are going to talk as Link. Yay. Should be fun.
Hopefully it better be better than our last skit which we just threw together in the car...it was making n00bcakez.

No. It was at a time of randomness for us when we thought up the skits.
And we thought up some random ass sayings too.
Like in OOT the Like-Likes give you like 20 rupees (or a purple rupee...it did to me once) and my friend said "Like likes suck...but they pay well."

Me and my friend like Animarathon because its a small con. And at the skits they have a Poison Mushroom Hat where people can toss in suggestions on improv stuff.
Me and my friend are plotting on tossing stuff in there just for our characters.
