Description So I bought these guys just a couple weeks ago. I'm super happy with how they turned out, even my crappy greenstuff work on the meltas shoulder pad. There are still a couple more details to finish up like scorch marks on the weapons and some highlighting on the (previously) spine on his shoulder.

I took the pictures outside, so the lighting is a bit harsh in places. The two banners on their legs are supposed to say Ignis and Fusione, Fire and Melt respectively, in Latin.

Looks great, I just can't resist the salamanders though, I mean, why not put a wood burning fire on your head. lol

Haha, when you're 7 feet tall and built like a block of steel, you can do pretty much whatever you want.

Fire is only food for a space marine (especially a dreadnaught)

They look very good. I like the shading on the flames.

Thanks I made sure to paint them with dark tips, rather then light tips, like how fire ACTUALLY is, unlike how GW paints their fire.

I can't believe I didn't think of that the second I saw the original LotD models. Brilliant work here.

GS work look nice No need to be too harsh on yourself

These LotD minis work really well as Salamanders!

I totaly agree, I saw someone else online that simply painted them like they were LotD working for the Salamanders, but I wanted them to be true Sallys.

Very good work, including the green stuff! My only remark is that the bases are baren.

Yup, so far my whole army is unbased. Though if you check out the pic of my army there is a link to where I hope to purchase some amazing lava bases.

Missed that bit. The bases look great and will fit the army theme perfectly.
Looking forward to seeing the final results!

were the legion of the damned cus you dont see many marines with a skull and flame job and its a shame they dont
it works great and to be truefull i cant tell the difference bettween your greenstuff work and the wrk of the modelist

Haha, thanks, yup these were from the Legion of the Damned new line. The second I saw them I knew I would be turning them into Salamanders, I just tried to remove the majority of skeletal stuff, like the ribcage on the flamer and meltaguns shoulder.

Considering the tiny scale you have managed to make them look great ^^
Love the way you did the metal on the weapons, the slight contrasts of rust etc, very neat. 0_0

thanks, it's actualy pretty easy with these, just basecoat, slop an ink on, then drybrush.

Does sound easy, they mix well? dry brushing is good for getting subtle colors right?

Gibbtall In reply to Lee99 [2010-05-20 22:45:06 +0000 UTC]

I don't generally mix mine, cause it's so hard to get the same colour again. Drybrushing is good to get the high points of the detail.

Oh I see. well your better than what I would be at it, I'm only good at digital painting, I haven't done any painting seriously, hated paints the first time i ever used them... back in high school.

Heh, I WISH I could paint digitaly, but I can't get the nack of it.

Ironic though isn't it, I can't get the hang of real paints, but I can get the hang of digital art....
