Description Watercolours, pencil and pen.

I was so unhappy with this all the way through so I did a bit of experimenting as there was nothing to ruin. Now that it's finished and I've scanned it, I actually think it looks ok. Weird :/

I like it.  I tried something similar with a Robin last Spring ... and that attempt is in the redo-it pile.  Maybe this gives me some idea.  I like the simplicity of the supporting elements ... and the just enough of the bird but, not too much.

Thanks. I'm never quite happy with my bird paintings because I always feel that they lack detail and other people do them so well. I do love birds though and especially Robins, too. Robins always come across as having a really strong personality.

I love the colors on this piece, you have an eye for doing simple work that still gets attention

I feel that simplicity is like art in its purest form.
your average persons see's the visual world as complex
but an artist looks at the world  and just see's simplicity in the complex
     it is easy to forget that the way we see the world as artists has actually been alter'd
plus simplicity really brings out the power of the art principles 
sorry if I went off I just love simple

I have to admit that I like simplicity too. I think a lot of artists tend to be their own worst critics. It's very nice to hear that you appreciate something that I criticize in myself (but do often like in other peoples' work)

It's perfect It has an expressionist tint to it, and the chilly colours work so well. Love it.

Thanks, I was going for a wintery feel as I only ever seem to see Goldcrests in winter.
