Description
I finally gave my new gouache paints a proper go and they're certainly versatile. Used with a lot of water, they're pretty much like watercolours but smoother and more predictable which is a mostly a good thing. I do think that the unpredictability of watercolours gives them a certain charm.
I got good opacity in the parts of the painting where I didn't water the gouache down. I am weirdly uncomfortable with high opacity paint. I don't like how thick and gloopy it is and I don't like how everything underneath it just disappears. I do like the way it looks, though. I think I just need to get used to working with it.
So yes, this is all gouache with a little pencil drawing underneath.
