I cut it down to size, drilled holes, then decorated the wood with a soldering iron - see the lovely dragon 'tattoo'?
The knots and tassel is a later addition - I used Lydia Chen's Chinese Knotting (Tuttle Publishing). You have been warned - knotting is not as easy as it looks. Hahaha...

Thanks for the fave! Its actually not very out-of-the-box. In the Far East, all the traditional flutes are made of bamboo.

Awesome! I played a normal flute in symphonic band back in junior high. But this would be fun to make for myself when I have some more free time in the future. You've done a beautiful job on this, I can still hardly believe you made this yourself by hand. Very 'out of the box' for you to use actual bamboo too ^__^ nice. Excellent job with the dragon you soddered into the wood too. Looks emaculent. I hope you don't mind if I fav this, not only do I like just looking at your handy work but I may actually try this myself one day. Though I'll have to see if I have the courage for the knot.
