hey! can I ask you one thing?
have u ever used prisma makers?
just asking, I tried once but I dun think I used copic or prisma, I think it's the cheaper markers and I remember the quality is too different. Yours looks really smooth and fine like a watercolour. The colors blends really well!
and can you tell me what kind of paper did you used? hehee...that's 2 question! sorry, but I need to learn from the master!

Giname In reply to Virus-AC [2006-07-22 17:22:44 +0000 UTC]

I'm no master LOL
I have used prismacolors and I really like them but Copic (to me) is more useful when it comes to coloring certain things like skin and hair.
With both markers I use a different technique because both markers are very different.
Copics have a soft brush like point but prismacolors have a hard point. Prismacolors are still able to blend but it’s not as bendable as copic.
The paper I use is good old' photocopy paper ^^
It absorbs marker really well

i've never used any copics before but from by the looks of other people's amazing copic art (such as yours ^.^), i'm even more influenced to buy them. lol. i'm especially fascinated by the skin coloring. how exactly is it possible to shade so smoothly with markers? just wondering if the shading is anything similar to the feel of Sharpie shading sometimes. X3

anyway, this deserves a fave thanks for posting a great tutorial

I don't really work with pens, but your techniques look so fun and interesting! I think I may have to run out to my local art supply store and grab some pens just for the heck of it and play around a little.

Thank you for posting this tutorial -- this is very much appreciated by persons (like myself) who haven't formally studied (yet!) or tried out many new techniques. Ya'll deserve a huge round of applause for putting in the time and effort to create tutorials like this.

Hi there~! Thank you for your tutorial ^^ I really like how you managed to make your colouring with copic markers so smooth...
I have a quick question. How do you manage to lay down the copic markers so that they blend smoothly into each other? I find that when I use Copics, they tend to not blend very well, and leave a bit of a hard edge. Even using the blender doesn't seem to work as it seems to cause a water edge when it dries.. Do you have any suggestions?? Thank you!

You know, at first I thought you were coloring Tuxedo Mask. But sadly, you are not. No worries though.

Your coloring is very beautiful! Copic markers? Hm... I've never tried coloring with any sorta marker. I tend to stick with color pencil, but color pencils leave grains.

When you started coloring with markers (whatever type of markers they were) was it very easy to color with and adjust to?

Also, are copic markers expensive? By expensive I'm speaking in terms of affordable to a freshman in highschool, with no job.

FINALLY! Someone feels like sharing the "Omg, supercopicawesomeness!" secret with the mundane world! D: Damn, now I want 'em even more...Your lineart is extremely light though, although it could just be the camera, but I notice you have to be precise with your penstrokes to make the copics look nice. D: Thank you for the extremely useful tutorial! ^^ Why? Because the tutorial on the Copic website SUCKS. ^^

I just recently bought a set of copic markers so I am a totally newbie at using them. How do you get the colors to blend so well with soft edges. I work in circles but even then it seems like there is the totally obvious line of colors.
