I really do miss 9 from time to time. He was SUCH a good Doctor it's a true shame he only did one season before Tennant made most of us go "Eccle-who?" and forget that he's the reason we started watching the new stuff in the first place.Nine was my very first Doctor and always has a special place in my fanheart. The grin, the ears, the jacket, the swagger, the doorway lean, the accent, the attitude... Yep. I miss him.
For long-time watchers, you may recognize this drawing from my earlier stuff. Yes, I've attempted this pose before, but this is a completely redone drawing from scratch.
Done on white paper with 0.3 mechanical HB pencil, then scanned to Corel Painter where I made the paper grey and added highlights (Tutorial here: fav.me/d36e1zu ).

Nine was my very first Doctor; I'd heard about the Doctor Who series for a long time before I finally decided to take the plunge and watch the first series. I haven't watched any of the other series yet; I'm looking forward to them; Ten and Eleven seem like they're great Doctors, but I know I'll miss Nine so much. I don't know what all the hullabaloo about Rory and Amy Pond is; I like Rose Tyler, and I don't want her to go. I'm not looking forward to the episode where she "leaves." Very nice rendition of Nine.

Really nice rendition of Nine. I finally went back and watched Series 1 because my boyfriend found out I'd skipped it and was mortified. Nine is pretty fantastic.

Anyhoo, you captured PERFECTLY one of his most beautiful expressions (and he had a lot of 'em!). That's definitely the look that broke and stole my heart. FANTASTIC job!

Eccleston doesn't get enough love/art, and this is just... yup, FANTASTIC.
I have only started watching Doctor Who for about 5 months or so, and, sometimes, I just get these pangs of ever-so-human sentiment over Nine. Because he WAS great, and my first Doctor, too. He was the reason I kept watching Doctor Who after the first episode.

i just loved him soooo much, I mean, he was perfect (Chris Eccleston)
as I wrote to a friend last week:
He played the doctor for ONE Year. He is the most tragic and complex Chracter I know at all. Ignore Hamlet and Co. THe doctor came right from the last Great Time War and had decisions to make that led him to a genocide. He wiped out everything he knew, he loved, friends, family, wife, kids. He caused the burning of Rome, everytime he sets foot out of the Tardis people around him die, and he lost the women that showed him what life is worth living for. He was totally lost, war-torn and (in my opinion) driven by feelings of guilt and shame. Nevertheless he shows to the outside this happy, easygoing thing, so he hasn't to show himself.
And Christopher Eccleston made to show us this, in a way that was soooo incredible, that I really believed in it.

The drawing is absolutely gorgeous! It looks so effortless...and I know what you mean. Christopher was amazing. Yes, so was David (I won't mention anyone else since I have yet to watch anything other than the first four seasons of the new series...), but..well...Christopher was AWESOME.

I never did want to watch Doctor Who. I would see episodes with 10 and 11 but I never really got into the show...until I saw number 9. I miss him too.

When I finally started watching season one, I was really angry knowing that he was going to be gone....Tennant had to work hard to win me over (though he certainly did). But I miss Eccleston a lot.

Ah, whatever to anyone who can't appreciate nine. Even I almost was thrown down that path--the very friend who introduced me to the new who started me off on Season 2 (his preference) and I didn't know at first D: (I MISSED BADWOLF and Jack Harkness!! Almost strangled him...) So by then I was already blown away by tennant, but I went back and properly watched season 1...ugh. Nine takes your heart, everything about him set the pace, and I guess his short reign sorta...has it's charm that way. He was a brilliant doctor, never mind good. @_@
I even love Eight, and I haven't properly given him the right attention yet. Rather stuck on anything involving Jack, Ten, or Rose (meaning Nine included XD) I like Eleven plenty, I just have to stop getting choked up when I see End of Time. XD
