music played in her head all day
and she never stopped dancing.

Evan was a realist
he spent his nights drinking,
motionless watching girls dance
and then he met Elina.

Elina made his days brighter
he tried to catch her sapphire eye
he smuggled love letters into women's toilets for her to find
and dedicated her least favourite song to her on the radio
he screamed her name out when he was alone
maybe she wasn't listening

Elina was sitting alone, drawing golden dragons up her wrists with a compass

she was close enough to touch, he was close enough to forget
